Now what can we get other than an SKS-D that uses these ###y things?

Those type 81s are looking better and better.

Anyone think they could add a Vz58 spine onto one of these mags?

Easier to get mags for a rifle when they accept a mildly universal and widely available pattern than a pattern specific to one type of rifle. How hard do you think "Type-81" specific mags will be to get if only one importer is importing the rifle, vs any old AK mag, or new AK-Pmag will do?

*If* we get a modern rifle that takes AK mags, and I really wanted polymers, I'd probably go with real East Bloc AG4s or Circle 10 Bulgarians over these Magpuls.

The US PALM mags have the floorplate molded on which makes disassembly impossible, so even the poorest quality surplus mag has a leg up on them. There's the Tapco mags which seem to be good for range use but no one trusts them for mission critical performance. The PMAG will probably be an excellent magazine but as already stated above, when surplus steel and polymer mags are available cheap and are known to work, why bother?

The price of AK mags here is fairly ludicrous but you can get them cheaper if you look around. There's some on the EE from vaughan for $50/piece and I recently got a bunch of East German 30s for a bit less than that. It's probably double what they pay south of the 49th but up here you get to pay the "you're a shooter in Canada" tax.

Well I guess we all need to buy valmets like Bfiles. If I could get magpul mags and a galil-ish conversion I'd be a happy cat.

Its easy for you to get, all you gotta do is sell your 13, 000$ Tavor aand buy a valmet!!!!!

The 7.62x39 version of the A-91 rifle possibly, if they're ever made available in semiauto form, as well as possibly the 7.62x39 version of the as yet unrevealed Izhmash bullpup rifle.

The information regarding the Type 81 is conflicting, as far as I can figure the early models cannot use AK mags but that was changed fairly early in production.

From what the interweb states and a few american reviews is that they still use a different style mag then the AK's.

On the face of it, although if you dig and translate the picture is less clear.
