Magwells on 1911s?

x2. But where can you buy one?

I got mine from speed shooters international. i think that might be the only option. I called S&A and they will no longer ship to Canada. Neither will Brownells for this item.

Here's one on a stock Colt Special Combat Government.

Single stack magazines with no bevel what so ever is a minus even if it came from JB's mind.
It didn't take him that long to move onto double stacked mags and beveled metal.

I bet JB would approve of mag wells......

Do some of you guys think it's nutz to bevel the metal on a non magwell 1911

I'm a fan of easy and the mags go in easier with, bevels, double stacks or magwells.

:)

I've never owned a 1911 that didn't have a bevel to some degree. They're not square 90 degree cut. (Kinda makes a well redundant {unless you're drunk:p}) Key in the keyhole...{no, I'm not advocating. just a joke.}

I went for a slightly different magwell approach on my Spartan... Hogue G10 Magrips. I like the fact that they speed up reloads as well as extend the length of the grip for larger hands.

Yes, once beveled they are no longer 90degrees. Filing a bevel is a simple improvement on the original design.

Check out Page 279.....

I read the article and thought "ok, so that's what olde tyme gunny's did to improve the angle, but all my 1911's have a bevel!?". Low and behold, Plinker eats some crow (again:p). I don't have an old colt around here but looked at a Norinco I have but don't shoot much from the CanAm/ammo deal a while back (it's a reasonable replica of what Colt was doing back when), and guess what. The fu<ker is straight cut across at 90 degrees!? I never noticed! All my others are beveled though.

Your bevels are abominations and an insult to JMB's original design..... :) ,but they are also a simple improvement.
