I did a search and couldnt find anything guys but maybe I just didnt do it right I'm not sure.
Anyways just wondering what the main difference's in these 2 models are?
I know the 7600 replaced the 760 and so on, but just wondering what the so-called differences in them actually are.
Thanks

I believe the newer model (7600) has different locking lugs and the bases are mounted with 8 x 40 screws... that's about all I remember about them...

I am sure if you 'google' "Rem 7600 versus Rem 760" you will find lots of info.

1981-
The major improvements over the Model 760 were a simpler bolt, which now had four lugs in place of nineteen, and a single unit replacing the breech ring and barrel extension. Smoother operation came from a hardened steel receiver insert mated to a matching lug on the bolt and heavier action bars. The magazine was redesigned and its release enlarged. The scope mount screw size and screw hole spacing were increased for greater strength, so Model 760 scope mounts will not fit.

- Model 760 ADL and BDL designations were replaced with 7600 with straight comb stock and impressed checkering .
- Bolts were changed from 14 small locking lugs to 4 larger locking lugs.
- All Carbines were discontinued, until 1987
- All warehouse Stocks of 760's were exhausted by April of 1981

- There were 4610 760's manufacture in 1966 for the 150 Th Anniversary
- There were 3800 760's manufactured in 1976 for the BI- CENTENNIAL
- From 1952 to 1980 a total of 28 years 1,034,462 760's produced in all calibers
- From 1960 to 1980 there were --42236-- 760's Carbines Manufactured in all calibers
- There were 20175 Model 76's manfactured in 30-06

I'm just razzin him, but don't tell him that. ;)

.

LOl Actually, I don't think the 7600's are anything to write home about. I don't think they are too hard to look at, and they are a good tough gun... that's about where my love for it ends lol. If there is a gun with a worse trigger, I do not wish to shoot it lol. You start pulling the trigger and it creeps about 1/8", then it stops solid...and you start pulling....and pulling....until you've reached about 10 lbs of pull and it goes off. On top of that, the one I have feels about the same as getting kicked by a horse...thank god it's only a 30-06 lol.

All that said, I still love the gun for some reason... I have always been able to shoot pretty good groups with it, and have killed 4 bucks with it... I imagine I'll have it until one of my kids want it.

You just had to ask:p
I still like the 760 better. Want to sell your 35Whelen:nest:

I think almost all of the "improvements" were made to allow cheaper and faster production same as most "improvements" these days. I like the 760 better too and you can thank greedy people and ambulance chasing lawyers for the awful trigger pulls on most guns produced today. Product liability is a big issue these days.

I didn't know that the triggers on 7600 sucked.
I have an old 760 (1954) and the trigger is quite good.
Not too hard of a pull and it breaks cleanly.
