Main Difference Between Rem 760 & 7600???

The 760 for the most part did not have a monte carlo cheek rest or raised cheek rest. The 7600 does and this is huge if you are mounting a scope, I think the 760 is too low to mount a scope, I like the cheek rest on the 7600.

I like the cheek rest on the 7600.

My 35 whelen 7600 carbine dont have a cheek rest and the 20mm Vx-3 I mounted is perfect!!
But i have big cheeks:dancingbanana:

Whats your charge Dennis to do one?
PM me if you want or just post it here...dont matter.

Do you want 2.5lbs pull on a hunting gun. 4 lbs would be nice, better than the 7-8lbs most of the new 7600's come with.
Ya! get the trigger done before you sell it back to me!:nest:

Blargon's post hit the nail on the head with the absolute facts. Cosmetic changes to the stocks aside, the change in the lugs on the bolt were the major revision to cause a model change.

As far as triggers go, +100 on the comments by and for Guntech. Dennis did the trigger last year on my 760 30-06 and it is great. In fact, the 48" moose I will attribute to the trigger alone :) That rifle shot 168 TSX into a 5 shot, 0.75" group. Better than lots of my bolt guns. The moose folded like a cheap tent.

Dennis, you should have 2 more triggers in the mail shortly! I was fortunate enough to find a NIB 7600 Maple Stock (1 of 2500) 35 Whelen in the USA and it should have finally crossed the border last Monday. Since I would save $7.13 on shipping if I bought 2 rifles, I had him toss in another Maple Stock twin in 6mm Rem.

Gotta love those pumps!

Nice find ! :D

Kills me that Remington continues to chamber the 243, 270 & 308 Winchester as standard, and not their own cartridges and developments. There is a market I'm sure, for 7600's in 223, 6mm, 25-06, 260, 280 & 35 Remington, as well as the 257 Roberts and 35 Whelen, all of which they seem to now ignore.

I was happy to dump my 7600 in .270 WIN. Lousy trigger pull, jumped and kicked, and you had to slam on the pump to properly chamber a round or misfire guaranteed and no way to tell if the round wasn't fully chambered until the gun went click. Everyone who shot the thing had that happen to them too. I don't like the pump action in a rifle either, I perfer a solid mounted forearm.

I know there are a lot of them out there and are extremely popular with a good rep (which is why I got mine), and maybe mine was just a lemon, but I'm glad it's gone.

To Gary D: While I am no expert on all gun problems, being a farm boy and engineer make me look at all mechanical things and figure out how they work. When I look at the trigger group on the 760/7600, there is an arm that comes up and holds the rails on the slide closed. That is what you release with the toggle/button to open and eject a live round when it is cocked. I would bet a liberal MP (not high enough value? okay, I will up it to a small Tim Horton coffee to increase the value) that the arm was incorrect in some way or did not come up high enough. Guntech will know for sure. The misfire is probably the bolt not fully rotated closed which would be the case if the "arm" did not come up all the way and lock it in place.

Beretta Boy: Thanks! Now I am Jonesing for the 7mm-08 and 257 Roberts in Maple to make the complete set of four!

Now that is what i need too! a 338-06 pump!

I have a line on the other two and just trying to decide whether to sell a kidney or my 49 year old pot belly on the street corner so I can get them. :)
