Hello,
doyou know where i could find extended barrel makarovs and around how much are they valued at?

do you have photos of your makarovs that you could post please?

There is a very good site at w w w .makarov.com
They have been around for many years but I don't know if they still sell barrels & ship to Canada.

I was going to buy one in .380 ACP but stayed with the 9x18 Makarov cartridge and reloaded for it . They are extremely reliable guns.

i do like the look of the makarov pm. too bad barrel is too short as is and not all of us have our 12(6) unfortuately. i really like my friends PPK in .32 acp and can't see it being more dangerous than a 1911 but that's how they think.

Makarov.com has been sold out of barrels for a long time.

I believe that someone in the US is going to be making a new run of extended/threaded barrels for the Makarov. Right now there are basically no commercially made barrels available, so you would have to get a gunsmith to make one from $cratch.

EDIT: Just remembered. If the manufacturer is not registered as an exporter, then the barrels will not be allowed to be exported, regardless if it goes through a registered exporter.

The previous run of barrels was manufactured by Federal Arms Corporation (FAC Of America). FAC was recently sold to Century International Arms. I presume that Century has an export licence.

I was interested in getting one recently as well, but slightly confused as to what the process would be.
I was guessing it would be something like...
- Find a place in the States that would sell you one
- Find a gunsmith in the States that would rebarrel
- Paperwork yourself or third party
- Import it over

Is that about right? Besides, you know, how it would cost five times more than the actual price you paid for the Makarov.

Your best bet is to find a gunsmith in Canada to rebarrel a prohib. It will by far be the cheapest way to go.

Importing from the US is best done if you find an exporter (You MUST have a US exporter) who will meet you at a border crossing. Otherwise it gets really expensive.

Hmm, this makes me consider listing mine... It's a parts Franken-Mak that's never worked quite right: '60s Russian frame, Bulgarian parts, a commercial slide and a Federal barrel. Restricted only. :) And I bought 1000rds of MFS boxer-promed brass-cased ammo for it too... Anyways, there's your pic.

I'm going to resurrect this, now.

Can we not import a bunch of makarovs as "without barrel" and make the barrels here?

Bringing this back from the dead, are any retailers interested in bringing in restricted Makarov's or in process of making clones with longer barrels?

Ok, if there is a reasonable demand I will import new production Makarov pistols in it's 9x18 caliber with legal to be restricted barrel length. Retail target price $650. Interested?

That seems pretty high given the fit and finish of the average Makarov. More around $500 I'd be in.

id be interested, but ya a little high, id rather see it around 500$

And people wonder why no one will bring stuff like this in....... The guy is gonna make $10 it and you guys start off by saying "Sweet!" "But I'm only gonna pay 'x' amount of dollars". Of course, why should the guy make any money on it at all...........
