Making my GSG-16 look like an MP5SD

Looks great! I prefer the SD hand guard to the A5 one myself.
Would love to be able to purchase one and streamline the look of the gun. Just need to figure out something for the rail on the stock.
Going to try the airsoft stock for that.

Extended version modeled and on the way. Will post pictures tomorrow morning.

It has to be about 7 1/2" long to extend all the way out to the can, though, and I'm hoping that doesn't detract from the look... will see.

Thanks again for the feedback guys.

This is flush with the fore-end. Do we want to try extending it past the fore end or should I live fire test this and start pumping them out tomorrow?

Also the butt stock easily comes off the stock rails. So once I finalize the hand guard I have another project. No promises on a time frame. Start sending me pictures of MP5 butt stocks.

The flush fit looks perfect. I’ll take one.

This makes me want to learn how to do this! Great job and I’m sure it must be harder than you’re making it look!

I’m not gonna lie to you, the modelling alone has taken me more hours than I will admit. Producing the prototypes has taken three 9hr prints (low quality quick prototypes) and one 19hr super fine print. I still have yet to produce a super fine (final) version of this last hand guard design.

It’s not super difficult but it does take some commitment. I’m lucky it’s been slow at my day job.

I’m a #### photographer. I’m quite garbage with a camera. Hopefully one of these is the angle you are asking for.

Please ignore the artefacts on the upper edge of the hand guard. This was a low quality prototype not the final version.

It overhangs the fore end by IIRC 0.73”.

The current iteration indexes by sliding over the tits that the picatinny rails screwed onto. There’s a pic earlier in the thread of the hand guard partially slid onto the fore end showing that. The grooves are also visible in the Fusion360 screen grab.

I didn’t think it was necessary to use all six screws so I stuck with just the two for the bottom.

Thanks, that is pretty much what I was looking for. I'll take one in whichever version you end up producing. How does it feel in hand?

It feels amazing in the hand. It feels better than it looks, surprisingly. The added thickness and the ribbed profile really do add a lot to the gun. I definitely prefer it to a vertical fore grip.

Okay the final version will be up in the EE in a few minutes. I made a few extra. Before anyone comments I want to make something clear, this takes 13hrs46mins to print and uses a significant amount of premium filament in order to get such a nice finish. I can only make one of these per day and I lose the ability to use my printer for other projects. I don’t exactly want to sell a lot of these and this is priced accordingly. I’m just one guy with one printer.
