Hey guys, quick update... 26 days ago someone approached me on Reddit saying he was a 3D printing professional and he asked me for the files required to produce my top rail delete and hand guard. I politely explained that I was selling my designs to pay for the materials and time required to produce them. He stated he didn't feel like he should pay for my designs. Tonight he posted crappier, slightly modified versions of my designs for free. His knock off versions are available here, use at your own risk:

It's the nature of the business with 3D printing. I'm not shocked or concerned. It does leave a sour taste in my mouth though, so that is going to be it as far as my production of these hand guards and rail deletes. I can't in good conscience ask for money for a design someone has stolen and made available under a non-commercial license.

No worries, I had my fun selling gun parts on the internet lol. Big mistake posting details of my design to Reddit. That place is crawling with entitled millennials, foot fetishists and hypocrite liberal gun owners.

No plans at the moment. The non-SD hand guard, faux-diopter rear sight and butt stock rail delete will remain unfinished prototypes. I can't justify the hours in front of the computer on Fusion 360 to my wife if I'm not getting payed for it. We have projects around the house that I could be doing.
Hell, for the last three months I've been setting my alarm for whatever time of the night someone's hand guard was going to finish at so I could get another one started right away. I didn't want to keep people waiting. I've been waking up in the middle of the night to play with my 3D printer and get people's orders shipped on time. It's just not worth it if some twirp on Reddit is going to copy my ideas and give it away for free. After Tuesday when the last hand guard ships I'm gonna get a good night's sleep!
To the 61 of you who supported me on this adventure, I appreciate it very much!!

Thank you, I absolutely love the SD forearm.
I'm sure it was a lot of hard work and I for one do really appreciate the work you put into not only designing, but trouble shooting the various iterations and producing high quality parts for the ones that bought them.
Regarding the intellectual property theft, unfortunately thats the way the modern world works. Anything not patented or protected in some way is subject to poachers and thieves.
I was actually looking forward to what you would come up with for a rear sight shroud and other parts to bring it closer to an MP5.
Thanks for the parts I bought, you did bring a huge smile to my face.

Baldabe, I wouldn’t even call it “intellectual property theft”. I have no claim to the way the MP5 looks! I, and everyone who I told about my 3D printer gun mod business venture, always knew that this would happen.
The aggravating part is that it was a kid who had the gall to PM me and beg for me to send him my files that ended up attacking me. No question that someone was going to do it... I just hate that I made it easier for him by posting to Reddit.
I want people to know that I posted pictures of my GSG-16 mods to CGN and Reddit at the exact same time and...
On CGN I received 36 inquiries which led to 30 purchases.
On Reddit I received 15 inquiries which led to 1 purchase.
On CGN 1 person PM’d me saying they own 3D printers and they like my design but they want me to send them my files for free.
On Reddit 4 people begged for my designs.
On CGN 5 people PM’d me offering suggestions, resources, advice regarding my project.
On Reddit no one was helpful and 2 people actively attacked me.
So, in conclusion, you guys are the most dedicated, successful community supporting gun ownership in Canada. CGN put its money where it’s mouth is. Reddit... well... its a mouth. A naive, confused mouth with a herpes outbreak.
EDIT to add that if you’ve noticed the numbers don’t add up that’s because some people purchased the rail delete and then also purchased the hand guard later. In total by Tuesday I will have shipped 61 packages.

Where did you buy the butt stock?
This is too bad. I was about to ask for your rear sight and a rear rail delete without holes (use adhesive). Oh well. I sat too long.
I didn't buy any of your stuff but I did appreciate the fine work you did for the community.
