Making my own woodset ?

Linseed oil it will be then !

I'll go get some after work, with some 303 ammo, so if I have the time I'll be able to shoot it and see if all of this helped accuracy a bit...

The rear sight guard is on backwards and the belly of the forestock between the nosecap and middle band should be straight, not pot-bellied. You need a brass re-inforcing threaded rod through the back of the stock and to inlet it for a tie-plate, if desired.

As I said earlier, it is not perfect, but thanks for the observation.

The rear sight guard I can change, as far as the shape of the forestock I'll leave it like that. I applied the finish tonight, pics to come later.

What tools did you use? I am thinking of doing up a No.4 stock over the snow days, but My shop is lacking in the tool department.

Also, yours looks pretty damn good, I like the color of the wood.

If you like the color, wait until you see it oiled. I had to use boiled linseed oil, because this is all I could find, but the results are quite satisfactory.

As far as tools, to glue up the block (2 pieces) I used a jointer, 12 inch planer. Most of the big cuts were made with a bandsaw, and all of the grooves and notches I did with chisels and carving tools. No router. Miter saw to cut to lenght and to cut the angle.

Also a press-drill with various size of fostner bits (the Canadian Tire kit in a small wood box)

Project is over, at last !!

Hi all

First, thanks to all of you guys for all the kind words during that project. It kept me busy for a while, did not cost much, and it was a good challenge. Still need to shoot it to see if anything changed, but that will have to wait.

I used BLO on the wood, and I put a coat of beeswax to finish. Still need to buff it, but that will be tomorrow.

What did you do to your wife to make her lock you in the garage for so long and did you have to call out for all your meals. :D

Next time think twice about making someone special an unbreakable hardwood rolling pin.

I must say very nice work, now sell the Enfield and buy some flowers……..:bigHug:
