Where is everyone headed this year for rifle season?Close or far from home?I'm guessing with 3 weeks till opener everybody has a idea where they will be hunting.Me,I will be half way between Poplarfield and Eriksdale.An 1.5 hour drive from home.Good luck too all.

St Rita...benn going there for over 20 years...have not got skunked yet...This year an "old time" hunt as we are all using pre-1910 Winchester rifles. all except my 38-55 are 30-30 caliber....it should be fun.

I've got 2 spots planned this year, both are "deep woods" and have bottle necks into and out of a bedding area. Oh yeah there in the south east!!!!

I use to hunt the Souris Riverbend management and Treesbank when the ferry use to take you across the river.Got my first buck in Treesbank.

may trade in my huinting guns for another BR rig.

I am really starting to hate the cold sitting waiting to see the big guys shivering my butt off for hours on end. No, I will not shoot Doe's and calves anymore just the big guy. As many bucks as I have seen during Blackpowder I may not waste my time during the rifle season. The area I have hunted for the last 15 years has seen TONS of pressure and the numbers are no longer there. It is going to take a long time for the numbers to come back.

Well I am headed off tommorow around 10am,get camp set up,ect.Me the Mrs.,the daughter(243) and my dad.I am off till thursday,everyone else is coming back tuesday night.It is suppose to be relatively mild hope it doesn't affect deer movement too much.Well good luck to all.I will post pics if we have any luck.

I'm going to try the Whiteshell for opening day. I have had great luck in the last couple of years although with the huge wind storms taking down so many trees this summer, might be harder walking the bush. If no luck there back to Virden and St. Lazare. Good luck to all!

Got my first deer ever today, a small racked , big bodied buck this morning around 8:55am, nothing special about him, meat is meat as far as I'm concerned! About 3 miles from Hadishville. Once he's in the freezer, I'll be picking up a second tag.

Used 130gr XP3's from my .270, no exit wound and the left lung was destroyed. He only made it 20 yards after the shot and piled up right in the middle of the cut line.
