I've gone out 2 years for turkeys now, we've got a good spot in the Pembina valley. Almost got one last Spring, but we spooked it accidentally, and tried again for the rest of the day but no luck. This year I am bringing along some 0 or 00 buckshot with me, because these things will run right in front of you if you're walking through the bush. After getting busted in the morning, calling didn't really work, so we tried pushing bush and almost got one. Hopefully will be better this year. In 2 years I've had 2 opportunities and haven't gotten one yet, but hopefully will this year!
P.S. If you are a youth interested in turkey hunting, give John Krupinksi a call, he organizes a Wild Turkey hunt for youths, you go to a seminar first and get a whole bunch of free stuff like calls and hats, etc. and then watch a presentation, and then go on a hunt. It's pretty awesome, if you want to do it, give him a call, his number is on the NWTF site.
