hi gents....
today I found one very interesting stock :)
what do you guys think about Manners Tactical Stock??? how is it?
how much would the MCS-T1 model cost?
best regards
Kot

Look to be well built and use alot of carbon fibre vs glass/alum. Construction looks to be well put together from the pics and comments of users. From the website info, sounds like very modern methods of putting the material/stock together.

Part I like is that they are light. Avg weight is listed at 2.5lbs. With accessories bring it around 3.5lbs. That is 1/2 to 1/4 the weight of other main stream stocks. Pricing is inline with the big boys.

Now you can build a tactical rifle with scope for under 10lbs. That's impressive and heading in the right direction....

At least for me. They are listed if you do a google search.

I called this fellow and spoke with him last year after 6BR-com did a piece on them They will sell up here and they have a good assortment of inletting available.

I particularly like the MS GAT thumbhole.

If the stock is very light, shouldn't the barrel be lighter also? Wouldn't this be a better balance? I know that many F class/1000 yard shooters balance their rifles within the weight limit to eliminate/reduce vertical spread(Speedy Gonzales article). On second thought, a light custom stock and a light custom barrel (weighing 10 pounds) would be an ideal LR rig for 4 legged critters.

Terry, exactly right. A tactical rifle shouldn't have to weigh more then a SAW. It shouldn't balance half way down the barrel either.

The Manner stocks provide the durability of a conventional tactical stock with the light weight of mountain style stocks. This is a great thing.

Now we start using smaller contours or fluted barrels and voila, you have a tough, durable, accurate, well balanced rig that can work in the outdoors and weigh 10lbs or LESS.

Not every shot is going to be off a bipod or rest. Having a very nose heavy lead sled makes position shooting very difficult.

Jerry

PS rifle balance is critical to consistent accuracy whether using a rest or your hands. Many will ballast their stocks to achieve this. Not something seen too often in tactical styles of rifles - tend to be extremely nose heavy.

I really like mine. The build ended up a touch heavier than I was hoping, because I booted the ball on barrel contour. The stock is super stiff. I asked them to build as light as possible, w/o doing the carbon fiber shell. I never weighed the stock on its own, but the rifle as you see it runs 12lbs.

Hey, that looks like a A4/A5. You know what they say, imitation is the best form of flattery.

Only one person has used these Manner's stocks? Anymore pictures??? Can anybody give any other info on them. I'm really ready to pull the trigger on buying a manners MCS T1 or T4. The reason i'm leaning this way is because McMillan can't step up their game and produce more stocks. 5-6 month wait time is brutal.

What exactly do you mean which is better for the buck, IMHO it is not an apples to apples comparison and only you can decide which is best for you; it is a Ford vs Chevy arguement.

The Manners stocks are nice but they do not have the inlet options that the McMillan A5 has. The T4 and A5 look similar but have subtle differences. I think McMillan has better color options with molded in colors but both stocks could be painted. The Manners you could get quicker if that is an issue. Both McMillan and Manners stocks have excellent inletting from factory. Both stocks would be an excellent platform for a build. JW Precision who is a dealer here stocks some A5s.

I am also going to mention that Ian Robertson is very good to work with and makes excellent stocks as well. He has a new tactical design that he posted pictures of awhile back. I own or have owned several of Ian's stocks.

There is a reason why there is a 5-6 month wait time on McMillan stocks and also a reason why a Manners stock looks like a McMillan clone, Robertson looks like a McMillan /H-S Hybrid clone... Proven design that works in the real world. Like I indicated earlier, imitation is the best form of flattery.
