Mannlicher-Carcano -> Gew 98?

Matching Gewehr 88s are tough to find. Only my barrel jacket, barrel, receiver, rear sight and rear band with unit markings matches on my Gewehr 88, the rest is mis-matched.

Where did you pick yours up ?

Believe it or not, I got it from a friend who was tearing old barns down on his land. He found it In the basement of one.
 
Wow, impressive. Makes you think what could be laying just under an old barn just outside where I live ?

If your friend happens to come across some more, I would be interested in taking a look at them and possibly acquiring them too :). I need an 88/S that is in decent condition so I can make use of some Gewehr 88 en-bloc clips that I acquired and cleaned up. I am hoping to find one with the dust cover and spring loaded plunger modification so I can have an 88 like Garand.

I guess I can only dream, eh ?
