My first
Not a bad looking rifle. It's a shame the sights are not with the rifle. Be hard to replace with originals. Not mine, but first cf2 in 7x57 i have heard of, in the ee
Trying to remember my CF2, and I could be wrong but they were nothing fancy, and I stand to be corrected but want to say williams or the like. So should be an easy replacement if you want, or better yet... quarter rib rear. Not a bad looking rifle. It's a shame the sights are not with the rifle. Be hard to replace with originals.
I kick myself for not buying one of those Remington Model Seven MS in 35 Remington. <dumb>
Glad it is too much for me for now….https://greatnorthgunco.ca/product/mannlicher-schoenauer-m72-with-full-stock-in-7x64/
Someone buy this before I do...
I remember one I had in 30-06...bought cheap when they were dumping them in the mid-80s...as I recall they just had Williams sights...which I replaced with a peep...so should be easy to replace...or do better.Trying to remember my CF2, and I could be wrong but they were nothing fancy, and I stand to be corrected but want to say williams or the like. I'm curious about the action on that M-S M72. Does it have rear locking lugs like the Steyr Mannlichers that followed it? The bolt sleeve looks somewhat similar to that on the later S-Ms. This "Mannlicher" must have had a very short life.Ugly stock on a very cool action...
It's an oddball...I've only had one...I think it was 30-06...didn't like it much...especially didn't like the safety.I'm curious about the action on that M-S M72. I still think those are the best looking 7's ever. - danNot a bad looking rifle. It's a shame the sights are not with the rifle. Be hard to replace with originals.

I agree .... It's weird because that Model Seven MS kinda runs counter to a classic full stock rifle in appearance, action and chamberings, but they really are a nice looking rifle.I still think those are the best looking 7's ever. - dan
Forward multi lugged with mauser M98 style ejector and CRF extractor .. nice pic at this link https://www.m14forum.com/threads/mannlicher-schoenauer-m72.525626/I'm curious about the action on that M-S M72. The main disadvantage of rear-locking actions is that they permit more case stretching on firing than do front-locking actions. For a non-reloader, this is not a problem, but for the reloader, rear-lockers are a headache. With the case stretch on firing followed by full-length resizing, it doesn't take manyForward multi lugged with mauser M98 style ejector and CRF extractor .. nice pic at this link https://www.m14forum.com/threads/mannlicher-schoenauer-m72.525626/
Dont be too concerned about the 'rear lugged' SL, M, S series ... vs front lugged actions - there are advantages and disadvantages to either style of lockup ... both are able to shoot very well and both will handle reasonable pressures as the rear lockers were also chambered in 6.5x68, 8x68S and 5.6x57 etc so they are certainly adequate.
