I'm looking for hunters, fisherman, target shooters, anyone really who is affected by the privatization of certain pieces of crown land in the Ottawa valley. This land has been chosen to be given to a select group of 2000 people many of whom are our friends and neighbours. Attached is a link to the map of the lands being affected. Right now I'm just looking for people who are affected and would be willing to sign petitions, protest, send letters and possibly become a member of an organization dedicated to fighting this injustice.

I don't actually use any of this land but I may like to some day and this is grossly unfair so I would be in. I know MPP Randy Hillier has been tweeting a lot about this lately.

There was a big thread about this that got locked so i'm sure quite a few people would be on board.

Here's a thought... give this land to the original people from whom it was stolen, but it'll default back to the Crown when they die.

What - they all already died hundreds of years ago? What the heck are we doing all this for now, then?

I think right now the most important thing to do is spread the word on what is happening. Anybody with friends in the media should get in contact with them and tell their story about their non native ties to the land. As of right now I don't believe anyone in the Ottawa valley knows anything about the complete ramifications of this treaty. The people of pembroke and petawawa alone are going to lose 30,000 acres and I have yet to hear a whimper. Last night we had an interview with CBC on the issue it will air next week. If anybody has any ideas or suggestions as to how we can have our voices heard on this matter please share them.

There will be a meeting Tuesday night at the legion in Perth from 7 to 9 it will be led by Randy Hillier. If we could absolutely pack the place with anyone who will go and make sure the media is there it could be a very good way to open up the issue.

I'll make an effort to be there as well. I'm in Mississippi Mills and while there isn't much crown land around here to loose, I would like to keep what little we have in public hands.

It's been posted on several sites now. Anybody know any clubs this affects? I know the Barron canyon is swarming with people who snowmobile, four wheel, geocache, bird watch and do all kinds of stuff all year I feel they must have forums and should become involved too.

From Pembroke here, not sure how much it affect barron canyon road crown land, but I'd be upset if it affected my bowhunting area :|

Could someone post the map from the link in my opening post on this thread so everyone can see the land we are talking about. I can't seem to post it.

If we could all join the group friends of mattawa river provincial park on Facebook it would do a lot for our cause.

I would be willing to sign a petition. I do not personally use it but I do disagree with it and would like to put a stop to it.
