What ever happened to not believing in land ownership... Or the so called travesty of taking away someone's ancestors hunting grounds..
As far as them blockading railroads and highways, the trains need to plow through them and our Army needs to come in with tanks, run over and through their hwy blockades. Put them in jail for all offences..
The land is for development purposes that's why most of it is waterfront. The two to five acre parcels will for the most part be severed and have cottages or homes built on them and sold. The whole idea behind the land claim is to create economic opportunities for the algonquins and sale of the land is really the only way to generate revenue from it.

right off. If they want to give land away and enable the natives to become self sufficent they should give them Agonquin Park. They hunt there as is and might as well run it. Im sure they would do as well as the government does. We have a shortage of crown land as is in this area.as well some of these two to five acre building lots are miles from any main road. One of these parcels is in a area we have hunted for over fifty years. It is on a nice lake with the only access being a trail, myself and my father made years ago.
I can well understand the need for natives to become self sufficent, but most already are and they became that way from leaving the reserve and getting a job. The natives can hunt wherever they want, why would the government want to give them building lots all over eastern Ontario?
How many Algonquins are in Ontario, anyway?
I'm thinking it must be a small fraction of the total population of the province.
How is it they can acquire so much leverage?
Unanswered question, for sure.
