Mapgul products restricted from shipping from Brownells?

Your right, I must be lying about ordering SGA stocks and forends from Brownell's a couple months ago. Or maybe it was the sling mounts I ordered a few months before that. I was trying to contribute to the forum by sharing knowledge I had from first hand experience and what you would think is a good source (I mean Sandy is in charge of international exports). I was only trying to inform that you can actually order some Magpul stuff from Brownell's, don't want to believe me, that's fine.

I've dealt with Sandy plenty, I have a dealers account with Brownells, and Brownells changes their mind at least twice a year on what the regs say.

Dude, I'm not saying your wrong, I'm saying that Brownells is inconsistent in interpreting regs and changes their mind all the time. My statement is not a personal attack on you. Spend 6-7 years doing business with them and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I did not take it that way. You are right, the regs and interpretations change regularly with the govt, Brownell's and anyone else trying to follow the extensive rules.

I actually ordered a Magpul sling mount last week that was shipped to me, haven't yet received. I thought my experience was recent enough that I could contribute to this thread.

it had nothing to do with ITAR, Gravel #####ed, that's all. Actually as you pointed out, some magpul stuff do actually get ship from Brownells ( slings, magazine dust cap, sling mounts) but not their major product line.

Just like how Glock parts are not controlled ( unless is the barrel), but everything single Glock OEM parts on Brownells are no-go to international orders. It has to do with the regional/local area distributors/importers.

I would consider SGA stocks part of their major product line and they will ship these to Canada because they are not ITAR controlled.

I sent a email to Magpul a few months ago complaining since the exclusive distribution thing happened, that we have had such little Magpul stock in the entire country. I dont care if I'm paying a few dollars more, but if I cant get the product in Canada when they're always in stock in Brownells, then thats a problem.

Shotgun parts are controlled under both itar and state dept. With brownells. Its a hit and miss on some if the magpul stuff. Ive gotten a moe 870 forend from them and also a moe handgaurd from them last week.

Edit: flipping thru my notebook. Shotgun parts is control under state dept and EAR.
Rmb canadian itar exemption is 500$ and magpul stuff is considered gun parts not components and also they are a registered manufacturer.

I havent bought magpul locally since the start. Its always been state side. Be it brownells, axtech, irunguns or whoever that ships to the canada

x2. I've bought every Magpul part that I have from Brownell's. Haven't bought one since they stopped shipping here. It's hard enough trying to buy gun parts from the US as it is. I don't need anyone here in Canada screwing us over like this Magpul BS and then charging me a premium for the same thing. :bsFlag:

If everyone keeps ordering from the US just to save $3

I was actually saving anywhere from $40 up to $60 per Magpul item when I used to order them from Brownells. $80 for a stock with $5.75 flat-rate shipping from Brownells instead of $130 for the same stock and $15 shipping to buy it from a store that is 240km away here in the same province... You can see why we used Brownells.

I buy solely from Canadian retailers or the EE. I don't even check the prices cross border anymore.
Even if we think we're getting gouged it's still better to buy local. If everyone keeps ordering from the US just to save $3 once the dust settles we'll eventually lose our local gun stores and then everything will have to be mail order. I for one like being able to drive down to my favorite shop and BS for an hour before buying a couple accessories or a new BCG for my next build.

I order everything from Brownell's because I get dealer pricing. On some items, it's a huge difference and others, not so much. But, I haven't ordered much lately because of the crappy exchange rate.
