March Purchases

Alright, first post ! :)

I finally picked up the milsurp I have been hunting for for a good two years (even before I obtained my PAL, I wanted this style of the Gewehr 98 but I couldn't find the right one or I just did not have the cash on hand to buy one of the $1k listed ones).

This one is a right beauty, only the rear sight, bolt, and front/rear trigger guard screws are mis-matched, everything else matches. The receiver was cold blued at one point and, to my amazement, it simply wiped off with no effort. The stock cartouches are simply amazing, look at the picture and you will agree as well!

Her serial puts her being made in early Spring, 1916.

Here are some shots of the important parts (Let me know if anyone is interested in other parts being featured):

Man, I always get so jealous when I see you post pictures! My hunt for a Gewehr 98 continues.....but I did pick up a CYQ P38 with a 3 digit serial number last month, good price, good condition, good shooter.

I just finished cleaning off the crap that was on the receiver:

Here is what it looked like when I first got her:

After a simple wipe down...the cold bluing technique is revealed:

After some care and extra careful cleaning, what the receiver looks like now:

Still working on getting her all cleaned up, but after I do expect a range report!

Nice, Artyman. Looks she she has a Finnish past as well. Nice to see the original barrel is still present, how is the bore overall ? Is she counter bored ?

Thanks guys, the rifle has the SA Finn stamp. The bore is a little dark but has good rifling, should shoot pretty well I think. The rifle has the proper 1919 Tula reciever with Finn sling swivels!

Mind if I ask where you plan on getting 7.62x54r? I'm kinda at a loss about where to turn with my new Mosin :(

Gunshows can offer small surplus quantities, my best option to you is to buy the reloading equipment and load for the caliber. .311 diameter bullets are very common, powders are amply availiable. Cases you will have the hardest time with. Try asking around here on CGN. Otherwise, small batches of Surplus is your only option.

New purchase in transit: Winchester Model P-1914 in .303 Brit, all matching, some repairs, decent bore. Will post pictures when it arrives.

New Purchase BPF: Budapest Stutzen M1895 Carbine.

Good hit, ArtyMan!
A Finned M-91 is always an exciting piece and older ones in that condition are few and far between nowadays.
I'm sure it will shoot very well with some dedicated reloads.
PP. :)

P-14

Hello Gents,

Here is my newest aquisition, an all matching Winchester made Pattern 1914, I've taken loads of pics but do not want to swamp the server here. If your REALLY interested or know alot about Pattern 14's I'd be willing to send you pictures by e-mail. Just PM me. Bolt and Reciever match, the stock is an early one with a diagonal finger rest. The rifle is complete except it is missing the arm bar for the volly sight, though the sight disk is still present. Anyone know how I could get my hands on a replacement or is it a lost cause?

3 pictures, here she is! Feel free to oogle, she doesn't mind ;)
