Rawr!

My latest aquistion, a 1920's Lee Enfield No.I Mk.III "Smiling Tiger" Siamese Contract. She is beautiful, very dark wood and the bore is Good. Bolt works smoothly, and came with her bayonet, scabbard, frog and sling.

Enjoy, drooling allowed.

A childhood dream finally come reality
You can buy all the mutual funds you want
But this investment allows me to enjoy it while it accrues value. :)

That is simply a stunning rifle!!!! I really don't think a person can get better than that! Thanks for showing, great pictures:dancingbanana:

Nice No4.
I am just waiting for two Mauser G33/40 Mountain Carbines, a Portuguese Model 1941 Short Rifle, an early Long Branch No4, and a late war K98.

I will post pictures when they arrive.

I had a No4 Mk1(T) in about the same condition years ago and sold it to a collector in central Canada. It had everything except the sling. It did have the matching transit case, metal lined canvass carrying case for the scope with both the rifle and scope serial numbers. I talked to a sniper collector in NZ one night and he knew his No4s. He told me if you look at the original sniper butt stocks, you should be able to see the up and down saw marks on the sides. This eliminated the chance of any reflection or shine and giving away a position.

I hated to sell off my Israeli K98ks but I needed funds to pay bills and help me pay for the G33/40s, and the 1941 Portuguese Mauser.
One of the 33/40s won't be on the block anytime soon. I might let one go on a really tempting trade. Not on something I can get anytime, it would be like giving away an Ace for a 3 of something when you are looking for a King.
I wish I had kept my No4 Mk1(T) Riflechair, yours looks great.
When I look back at the things I had in my posession and sold or traded off for something else kind of depressing.
But its the thrill of the hunt that really excites me, its finding some rare pieces when you are looking for something else.
As an example;
I have been looking for years for an early Ross to go with my M10 with thoughts of selling the pair. I would rather sell some of my other pieces and keeping them together with the Ross bayonet collection.
It took me about 25 years to find a really great 1896 Long Lee-Enfield No1 Mk1 in VG to Exc condition. It has a really great tiger stripe stock and came with a nice second pattern 1888 bayonet.

A wonderful trade with a local CGN'er, a great place to connect here online for make benefit great nation of Kanucktustan!

Re: 7.62x54r Ammo

HI Ricky101,

Try looking at Cabelas Canada (formerly SIR). They have them by 20 round box; or, you can buy them by the case (1120 rounds, ball ammo).

They also sell semi-auto 1945 SKS's a well from $299.99 to $349.99. All matching serial numbers, sling, oil bottle & cleaning kit, 2 ammo pouches, original folding bayonet. Some have original wooden stock sets, some don't, some have wooden laminated stock sets.

I'd love to get one of them myself. However, I'm in the middle of restocking my BSA-Shirely No.4Mk1 that I inherited from my father years ago.

Check it out; and best of luck to ya!

The bayonet for the 1920s Enfields probably wouldn't be bright polished steel, probably blue or more of a dull color. The lessons learnt from WWI would be carried on to post war manufacture.

Apparently they were, but it could well have been an arsenal refinishment among the Elite Guard Wild Tiger Corps to have the bayonet blackened/blued and to have the scabbard replaced with metal.
