March Purchases

I finally broke down and bought one.
Got this Chinese SKS from the forums, came with a communist oil bottle, a sling, and two bayonets. Oh and 100rnds non-corrosive.

I've got big plans for this puppy.

Sweet Thompson! Also, nice Ithaca - I didn't know Ithaca made trench guns? Is it a real one?

It's a Ithaca 37 M&P 12 gauge police riot gun. Love it. A real shame Ithaca went under like so many established gun manufacturers.

Klunk, when is enough means enough? You are practically cornering the whole milsurp market to yourself. Give the rest of us a chance.

The Ithaca is nice....as in NIB nice. Not sure if I will even fire it...And 102% genuine

I got the M1A1 from another board member here....it really REALLY pays to say "if you ever want to sell...I will buy". It avoids things making it to the EE

Does anyone know if its possible to trace Thompson ancestry from the serial# like a Garand?

FWIW, Ithaca isn't toast. They closed for a couple years but are back now.

They also still have a law enforcement model, but it's synthetic stocked now.

Not sure about thompson serial numbers... have you read any of the books yet?

This is the only US arms s/n lookup I know of, but I don't see anything on the Thompson:

Depending on who made your example, you might be able to get a factory letter?

OK, well here's my March acquisition (thanks Schick!). Let's just say it's a work in progress....

It's a Terni made M91 long rifle. Don't know enough about Carcanos to date it yet, but I suspect 1915 mfgr with a refurb sometime later.

LOTS of surface rust that's not too bad, but ALOT of pitting on the barrel under the wood. Oddly, the bolt and all internals were liberally dosed in cosmolene, so I suspect these guns were stored out in a barn or something and the exteriors rusted up.

Will make in interesting project - I'll post the "afters" when done.

Again - thanks to Schick for the generous trade that leaves me with a nifty spring project :)

Great find BTW. :)

The guy I bought it from gave me both bayonets. THere are absolutly no markings on her, besides the import "SKS 7.62X39 made in China"

got one from P&D and no markings like that at all. Pics soon

Well, slow month for me. Only got one to show right now. :p

Picked it up at the Kamloops Gun Show. Rather nice Albion Enfield No1 Mk2**, that I would say is about 90%+ condition. For $125 I was quite happy to give it a home.

No4 MkI* Long Branch

Picked it up today at a local gunshop. Somebody added their initials to it - "MP". Will have to see if it will buff out. Can anyone recommend a grinding compound? ;)

Kidding! It's an RCMP issue, S/N 72L10XX

OK, at the risk of proving my newbi-ness; the sling on Andy's #4 - is it attached properly?
I've seen them with the "buckle out", "buckle in" and as shown.Which is correct?

Tell them the best part - it was only $160 Andy ;) I almost bought it myself except that the rail was a bit worn for my tastes.

As for the buckles... Any has it on wrong. The buckle on the buttside is correctly fitted, but he has the muzzle-end bucle is on backwards :) the prongs should face out from the gun.
