Marihuana at Hunting Camp.

I don't want it around me in general, let alone in hunting camp and I'm a former head myself. My reasons:
I don't associate with those sort of people any more. If you're a stoner then other stoners may seem right and normal. Not so.
Modern pot smells like burning cat box. It may be stronger, it still stinks. Vodka is stronger then beer, that doesn't make it better.
The drunks vs. pot heads argument is weak, at best. I don't want drunken idiots babbling at me, either.
Oh, yeah, I hunt because I'm hungry. I don't kill women because they have big beasts, I don't kill animals because they have big antlers.

I'm assuming you were excited by the discussion and all... but that's a pretty big typo ...man ( in a harmless Cheech and Chong voice :) )

High capacity magazines and tactical accessories DO make Ar15s more dangerous. That's the whole point lol
Soldiers don't practice clearing rooms with 26" barrel bolt action rifles or storming trenches with pump action shotguns.

I apologize for the derail but I just cannot believe the ignorance of this statement. There are some pretty dumb notions floating around this thread but this one has to be in the top 5!
Now back to the topic at hand....

I could use make the shooter more proficient/effective at shooting stuff in specific conditions and environments if you wish ;)
But by all means please refute.
(in hindsight maybe it's time I started to take a break from the forums in general but I'm still curious so I'll fire you a PM)

Smoke what you want, drink what you want.
Life's too short to worry about something as petty as this topic.

Yes, and if you are wanting to get drunk or high just say so, masquerading the use as a medicine and lighting a joint every every hour is hardly medicinal or relaxing with a highball or 12 , just say it as it is.

I doubt the new cannabis packaging will say every 4-6hrs like Motrin. ;)

Oh, what fast food/junk food stocks should we invest in this summer?

Too many years of smoking pot and too many cups of coffee now means I forgot to check my spelling. Thanks for the heads up. BTW Up in Smoke is STILL one of the best movies of that period. The fathers speech about "that G*ddamned Finklestein sh!t kid sonava#####" is a classic!

Fentynol is used as medicine and it makes you feel good :)

Never tried pot and short of severe trauma never will.
I used to be anti pot thanks to the anti-drug programming but now I find my stance lessened in light of all the medical benefits it seems to have.

Problem being its a double edged sword because now a lot of people develop bs medical problems to get a licence for pot or free prescription Doctors in BC apparently write up scripts for anytbing. You can get a pot perscruption over the phone (with a convenient donation or $500).

Ultimately until pot is 100% legal someone running a hunt camp has every right to decide he or she doesn't want that on the premises. Even after its legal they can object to it the same way they might alcohol. Private property and all that.

I agree people should run their camps how they choose.

Your old anti-pot stance based solely on anti drug propaganda is quite similar to anti-gun people that don't know much about guns in Canada accept what they hear on CBC.

It's a bit of a free for all right now with medical in BC not sure about the rest of the country.

Well at least no one has tried associating being a stoner and buying the Type 81 yet:) Oh.. wait...did I say that
Or only stoners have crooked 81 barrel/trunnions OOPs.. said it again

Cannabis has only been illegal in Canada since 1923, at a time when the Rockefeller/Carnegie buddies wanted to corner the market on pharmaceuticals/"medicine" and get rid of natural remedies, in favour of their toxins. Since time immemorial, cannabis has been used medicinally by native tribes, as well as spiritually (smoking/ingesting). Its only the corrupt globalists and their banker masters that want to rule us all.

Cannabis has been in use for thousands of years all across the world as a medical/spiritual aid. So, anti's can scream and cry all they want because their short sightedness shows their ignorance of history and how our world works. In the end it comes down to personal responsibility. You don't drink when you shoot or drive, neither should you be high or be prepared to suffer the consequences of your actions if something happens. Other than that, mind your own business lest someone start telling you how you should live your life.....

I hate even the smell of cigarettes, let alone weed ,but I do like the smell of a nice pipe tobacco( don't smoke, never have never will) At home it would be a rare dinner without my glass of wine or a beer, but at camp it's strictly 'no alcohol' ( call it a ' child's bible camp' if you like,my camp,my rules -don't like it,tell someone who cares) reason being, while I have no problem with moderation, other people do,and it's simpler just not to deal with it.One person can spoil it for everybody

Your camp your rules as you say.
I'd be more inclined to tell the people that can't handle their booze that they can't drink at camp.

That said your approach of punishing everyone for the stupid actions of a few is not unheard of.

Hemp for Victory in WW2 ,no?

I run and own a camp......

I do have rules...... I think most people in here spouting off about camps having rules have never been in one.....

I go out of the way to keep the rules as unrestrictive as possible, but they are necessary to ensure work is distributed, stuff gets done and we all leave camp and have had a good time looking back on our time there...

1- I have all walks of life in my camp...... 10 people, men, women, sons and daughters, serious year round hunters and shooters, and guys that are into it one week a year......

2- I would “guesstimate” salary levels in camp range from about $40k a year to $130k a year........ everything from general managers to janitors, to butchers (handy)..... I can certainly vouch that both marijuana and alcohol use does not necessarily correlate to your job, monetary status etc....

3- I have a “no inebriation, nothing “hardcore” rule in place..... if the guns are put away and choring is done, and you want to have your fun, then have at it..... this means, if you want to have a few pints or to smoke a joint outside then that is your business and not mine...... that being I said, if you spend your whole night with a small pair of scissors, a pack of zig zags and a baggie of weed or a tumbler and a bottle of Jim beam, you WILL be staying in camp the next morning.... as “camp boss”, I make sure to tell everyone that, if I tell you you are staying in camp, you are staying in camp.....

4- I buy a 60 of baileys for camp every year for morning coffee and I am always the first one up..... I mak coffee for the gang as they get up, and if they want a shot, I throw one in..... one..... this leaves you legal to drive, so therefore doesn’t leave you “inebriated” IMOP..... plus the gang gets up easily an hour before we head out... sorry to the many blazers following this thread, but
I wouldn’t allow a morning joint...

5- we run dogs at camp and do several runs a day.. usually from about 7 to 2...... we break for lunch at noon..... at which point everyone is allowed one beer...... nothing more..... also, many of us go out for the “night watch”....if you go out for night watch, then no alcohol or anything else for you until you get back.....

As was stated earlier, my camp my rules..... but by keeping it reasonable, it doesn’t need to be restrictive...

Yes, rules suck...... but unfortunately, common sense isn’t all that common..

297 posts and counting on a “hunting” thread. Must be a new record. Sure don’t need dogs to sniff out any contraband at peoples camps, just make a thread about it on the internet and out come the proponents and defenders.

I am kind of laughing at this as well...... while I am “tolerant”, I have yet to see a blazer step up and tell us all about their camp.....

Just a bunch of guys telling me how I should run mine.....

Some of us choose not to hang around uptight people that need rules to function. And telling another grown men what to do in the bush isn't something that I believe in or will ever do.
