Marihuana at Hunting Camp.

so, I haven't read most of the previous 15 pages, so I'm not sure if this attitude has already been represented. Among my friends we have a mix of drinkers, teatotallers, and weed smokers. Honestly, the weed smokers tend to be the least annoying out of the bunch and cause the fewest problems. They are the first to make peace when issues arise. They may get silly, but unlike drinkers they don't get obnoxious and never get aggressive. Give the guy a chance once it's legal. If he's been a good dude so far, chances are you won't notice much of a difference when he's high. By all means, warn him that at the first sign of trouble he's out, but at least give him the chance. If he's respected your rules so far, he's likely a really good guy and it won't be an issue.

So social engineering over the passed many decades has surely worked and we are gaining speed down the slippery slope with the crash rushing at us faster and faster at the end . I predict that within 10 years only one sleeping bag will be required for every two guys at hunt camp with the other guy bringing lube and condoms . I forsee the day when hunters always go out with a partner "for safety sake" only to spend the afternoon preforming fellatio on each other because it's socially acceptable , like pot now . Smoke a joint , suck a joint , it's all good man , no one is getting hurt and if it's compared to whiskey , semen for the win .

"THE CONSPIRACY

William Randolph Hearst (Citizen Kane) and the Hearst Paper Manufacturing Division of Kimberly Clark owned vast acreage of timberlands. The Hearst Company supplied most paper products. Patty Hearst’s grandfather, a destroyer of nature for his own personal profit, stood to lose billions because of hemp.

In 1937, DuPont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and coal. DuPont’s Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane, celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of DuPont’s business.

Andrew Mellon became Hoover’s Secretary of the Treasury and DuPont’s primary investor. He appointed his future nephew-in-law,Harry J.Anslinger, to head the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Secret meetings were held by these financial tycoons. Hemp was declared dangerous and a threat to their billion dollar enterprises. For their dynasties to remain intact, hemp had to go. These men took an obscure Mexican slang word: ‘marijuana’ and pushed it into the consciousness of America."

You can read the rest here if you actually want to know the extensive history of pot usage, or hemp, as the case may be:

"MEDIA MANIPULATION

A media blitz of ‘yellow journalism’ raged in the late 1920s and 1930s. Hearst’s newspapers ran stories emphasizing the horrors of marijuana. The menace of marijuana made headlines. Readers learned that it was responsible for everything from car accidents to loose morality.

Films like Reefer Madness (1936), Marijuana: Assassin of Youth (1935) and Marijuana: The Devil’s Weed (1936) were propaganda designed by these industrialists to create an enemy. Their purpose was to gain public support so that anti-marijuana laws could be passed.

Examine the following quotes from The Burning Question, aka Reefer Madness:
• a violent narcotic;
• acts of shocking violence;
• incurable insanity;
• soul-destroying effects;
• under the influence of the drug he killed his entire family with an ax;
• more vicious, more deadly even than these soul-destroying drugs (heroin, cocaine) is the menace of marijuana!

Reefer Madness did not end with the usual ‘the end.’ The film concluded with these words plastered on the screen: ‘Tell your children.’

In the 1930s, people were very naive, even to the point of ignorance. The masses were like sheep waiting to be led by the few in power. They did not challenge authority. If the news was in print or on the radio, they believed it had to be true. They told their children, and their children grew up to be the parents of the babyboomers."

Thanks for that!
I was taught that in high school years ago but couldn't remember the Names. Old school Fake news and using the press for proffit!

Sounds like you think about this scenario a lot, as in way to much. Not that there's anything wrong with that, you're free to explore your ###uality afaic. Good on you for being safe with the lube and condoms lol.

15 pages to derail this thread....better than I expected !

“Derail” is an understatement. That train strapped on a pair of water skis and jumped right over the shark!

I’m pretty confident that one or more of the substances mentioned above were in use during the writing of that post...

A friend of mine, a newly retired long service RCMP officer, said it best:

"In 25 years of policing I never had to attend a domestic call where some low-life beat the #### out of his wife and kids after smoking a joint; I wish I could say the same thing about alcohol."

That's hilarious. How does he know? Did he blood test every one of them and determine they had no THC in their system at the time of the beatings, or did he just take their word for it?

Smoke that stinky stuff outside and then come in and quit holding up the card game!! When I go to the camp it's for the "camp experience " I expect us all to have a couple to many and bs and joke and blow some cigar smoke around.. if I wanted to seriously hunt I'd stay home. As long as everyone is huntjng safe and responsible do as you wish. Just smoke that crap outside lol

My hunting camps and primary hunting partners do not require booze or drugs to have an excellent time. Only a matter of time before the authorities start to look into the impaired -in hunting camp -in the context of care and control of firearms. Discretion and self control, well, to each their own....

This.

More than 2 drinks on an evening during Archery Elk= Impaired next morning. Sunset is late and Sunrise comes early. We usually get to sleep by 11 ...up @ 4...If your getting sloshed till 12 A.M your well over legal limit at 5 AM??

Brown liquor is the destroyer of worlds.

Objectively, it is the most lethal, insidious and violent drug known to man. (I spent most of my teens and twenties soaked in the stuff). Yet, it is socially acceptable and legal.

Somehow in this backwards society of ours, weed had been labeled a menace to society; and a stigma and prohibition was placed on a plant, that makes people giggle like idiots, talk in a draggy monotone voice for hours about the dumbest $hit, and then fall asleep. (tried it twice. Hate the stuff and reaction.. not for me)

Booze is an amplifier of situations and emotions, while weed is a ..dampener of them. Imo, weed around the hunt camp, beats booze any day of the week!

GREAT post.

I encourage my kids everyday....not to drink.

Booze could have ruined my life IF I followed in my Fathers footsteps. He died alone @ 60 because of being lifelong Alcoholic. I got to witness first hand what Booze can and does do to otherwise normal people!

I call whiskey instant a$$hole in a bottle.....especially when you get to the "smart" part of the bottle!

Guy's and Gal's that smoke pot are usually stoned 7/24.. Just to easy when sitting in the blind to smoke up... Just to take the edge off..
Very few people are occasional pot smokers... Every day and many are multiple times a day
Not around me...
