Marine Corps Scout Snipers Choose Nightforce Optics

It seems my tongue in cheek sarcasm didn't quite come across, my bad. That being said Leupold still admits that more than lenses are sourced offshore. The potential for a lot of parts is there.

There was no sarcasm in your post...you have called me a liar on two occasions. You made a mistake, own it and move on. If this is what amounts to an apology we are done. Phil.

Not the case at all. My post you quoted was intended as sarcasm about being berry amendment compliance and a jab at Leupold using foreign parts. The quote i posted from Leupold is fact and clearly states they use foreign parts. It was that post i was assuming we were discussing.

As an example of input, we just came back from a Swarovski/Kahles event which included instruction with live-firing at the Peacemaker Range in West Virginia. The Shadow 6 instructor was a Ranger sniper and is top-notch as are the Kahles tactical scopes. However, only limited manufacturers meet all criteria which includes delivery of large numbers. Additionally, there has been dissatisfaction within reg and SF units units of the Western world with the existing products. This has been repeated and expressed at Canadian International Sniper Concentrations and elsewhere. Our opinion is Nightforce is the most reliable scope in the world and their organization is first class.

We are only following what happens with scopes and are sure others can assist with kit info.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Are you able to expend on the bold text?

I remember S&B had some quality control issues but it was my understanding that this was fixed. Just thinking out-laud here but how "more reliable" can NF be over S&B (for example) and when you are Tier 1 company how more "first class" can you get?

The way I see it, we are talking about tiniest nuances here. Or has NF came out with something ground breaking or game changing that I am not aware?

Cheers,

Not even Kahles makes its own lenses..........quote from an article detailing a visit to the Vienna factory - ' The lenses are manufactured by specialized suppliers according to KAHLES's exact specifications.'

I'll be looking into who REALLY makes their own lenses, meanwhile, I'm betting on Steiner - having visited their Braunschweig binocular factory and seen them making the lenses out of lumps of Schott glass, and Zeiss.

I have a dog in this race, since I have a couple of NF scopes, and like them a lot. That. however, is only because I paid less than half of what the S&B equivalent would have cost me.

We can elaborate on issues with existing kit but choose not to. We are fortunate in that we have dealt with a wide range of snipers and are gearing up for the CISC at which there will be more direct info.

Oh boy that doesn’t help lol....I’m deciding between NF atacr 4-16 or 5-25 OR a sightron siii 6-24 moa ret scope. People brag about the sightron. Trying to convince myself I don’t need a 3000$ atacr on my bighorn tl3 lol....

Mike112288, Nightforce is the most reliable scope in the world in our not humble opinion and we are the Canadian distributer for Sightron with the latter being great bang for the buck. Gordon Holloway just placed second with a Sightron SIII in FTR at the Canadian FClass Championship and Adam MacDonald won with a Delta Stryker and previously used Sightron. Both are engineers.

Wow, quite the remarks and calling out others as a liar, than saying it was sarcasm.

Smells like troll in this thread now, but I like how you approached that though P&D phil.

You're 100% right, you don't need a 3000$ ATACR. You need a 5000$ BEAST.

I shot a BEAST and a Schmidt literally on the same gun within minutes of each other. The BEAST was wayy more scope, glass was better it felt better, the turrets were better. (however the BEAST turret system is pretty different)

Trying to save money here lol. Also don’t know about ffp vs sfp. I don’t compete and never will. Just target shooting and maybe some gophers lol ffp blows the reticle up eh

An interesting approach, in one hand you are posting that in your opinion "Nightforce is the most reliable scope in the world and their organization is first class" and then when you are asked why, you chose not to elaborate.

Why post at all if you are not going to back it up with data/evidence/examples?

For an example, last 25 years Schmidt & Bender name has brought a large amount of prestige and weight into any conversation as a best optic for sniping. It was used as a gold standard to compare them with the likes of NightForce, Zeiss, Swarovski, US Optics, Premier, Vortex, and others.

So I am going to ask again, what has NF developed or changed to make their scope better then s&b, zeiss, swaroswki, etc? More data & evidence and less secret ninja squirrels BS.

And please don't tell me what "snipers chose"... 9 out 10 time those guys have no a clue how rifles are put together, how scopes work, why match bullets are different from standard ammo, etc. They are issued #### and instructed on how to make it work.

Cheers,
