M,Blahahahaha... well said!
Yes, the Eargesplitten Lautenboomer is quite the cartridge. Did you know that if you shot one straight up, you could hit the International Space Station?
True story!

Interesting but not to hi-jack the thread but what if anything are the Canadians using along those lines,or are they just making do with what they have?
I was reading they are going to a 300 Winchester Magnum in a bolt gun to make up for the gap between the .308 and the .50 caliber.
Sadly that romour has been around since the Army adopted the M24 rifles as it was a original specification that SOCOM wanted to be able to convert the rifles to 300 Win Mag hence the long action instead of the short action M40 the Marines were using since Vietnam. The Regular Army got involved and wanted it in 308Win instead, and the rest is history. SOCOM went with the 338 Laupa with time and the Army as far as I know never had a regular issued 300 Win Mag as only the AMU handloads the stuff.
Or there is the Mk13 Mod 5 rifles the Navy has which is in 300 Win Mag but nothing I can find for the Regular Army.
You can however buy a M24 in 300 Win Mag however from Remington.

Got to get tested by a branch of the military and be awarded an NSN number be for being approved for any combat zone deployment.Man, what a good read and great thread.
Now, how do I get a couple of my M4 furniture compatable CQBR composite stocks with understock rail and a troy or KAC type battle rail.
... Over to afganistan for them to try on an m14would shave lbs off the rifle which means more ammo in the pocket

I'm just saying Brent, over all its been talked about a lot for a very long time, and although they bought a bunch of ammunition, I am still skeptical if they ever go to a 300 Win Mag as a general issue rifle.
