If you are looking for an 1895GBL Ellwood Epps has some in stock for $642.73, I just got mine so I figured I might as well pass on the news. Since they are a contributing dealer, here is the link to the Marlin page on their site:

I just looked and they just added 9 more to the web site if you are still looking for one, I had one on backorder for 3 months from Cabela's so I know that there must be a few more Nutz that want one. And no I don't work for Epps, it would be nice but a hell of a commute from Alberta.

I had the chance to handle the GBL after ordering The SBL...
Lets just say I'm glad I went w/ the SBL!!
But Everyone See's Something Different In a Rifle For Sure.;)

Wonksy, I like that scope setup. Is that a low-range variable? I want one in the 1.5-6x range (more or less) to mount in that position exactly. What is that one you have?

John...
Its a Nikon 2-7x32mm!!
I have a Leupold 1.5-5x20mm on my 7600 and love it, but never owned a Nikon before and wanted to try one.
Its an inch shorter(11") then the 40mm 3-9(12")

Very Nice stuff. I was looking at getting a big bore and was wondering what are the bigest differences between the 45-70, .450 and the .444. I think the 45-70 has more ammo available and slightly cheaper but what else is there to help me make up my mind on which one. I have seen 2 different balistic specs for the 45-70 do they make ammo for the low pressure old guns and newer guns.

So how many guys ordered and recieved their GBL's?

and how many realised that cheap ass remington is recycling GG barrels for these and not running fresh barrels. Resulting in an unused dovetail cut in the underside of the barrel halfway between the reciever and muzzle.

mine is going straight back for a refund.

Hate to say it but Marlin is done.

Sad sad day for lever fans....hopefully winchester picks up re-production of the 94 and others to fill the void to be left in the coming years.

show us a pic of what your talking about:confused:

The guide guns have a shorter magazine (4 rounds I believe). What he is saying is that the barrel on the GBL has two dovetails, one for the shorter magazine(unused), one for the longer 6 round magazine which is installed.

Good...that'll leave one more available for someone who appreciates it. Seriously...are your tender sensibilities so offended by this unused dovetail? How about the holes D&T'd on the receiver for aftermarket aperture sights? Maybe they should make a separate run of receivers without the holes so that nobody will get into a snit about them in case they aren't planning on using them.

Don't remove the buttstock...you may not like the quality of the finish on the inside of the the through-bolt hold.

Jamie whats the first 2 numbers in your serial number? 91??? If so its a 2009.
Check on your barrel just before the receiver and see what letters are stamped on it. If its got JM on it, it should be from the marlin plant in North Haven...If it has REP, they claim thats from the Remington plant.
Mine is a 2009 and has JM marked on it, and appears to be flawless. I mounted the scope but havent had the time yet to get it out and sight it in...can hardly wait though!! Alot of guys are reporting a 2" low difference in the POI compared to there POA after scopes been sighted in(think its a XS Lever Rail Issue)
I did remove my rail on my SBL and reinstalled it(wanted to check underneath it). The stud in the dovetail wasnt quite centered enough so i tapped it over to what looked like center...locked everything down and mounted scope...get out someday now and try it.
But I can honestly say so far besides that Dovetail stud for the rail being off a little bit, there dont appear to be any more problems with the rifle.

Only problem I found with mine is the dovetail stud for the XS Lever Rail was off centered abit(they didnt tap it to the center far enough). I tapped it to what looked centered to me and reinstalled lever rail and mounted scope.
Cant wait to get out and sight it in someday, cause alot of guys are complaining of a 2" low POI compared to there POA after scopes been sighted in!!
Good Luck!!
