The Henry is a pretty good rifle, but the new ones come with the ghost ring - of which the sight picture was a little too big for my tastes and there were issues with cowboy shooting for that reason. From previous posts you will note that some new ones had some headspace issues. Another minor drawback is that they are loaded from the tube rather than from the side loading gate
The 2012 Marlins are a great investment. I have not found one yet with headspace issues. Many of the 2011 rifles had mis-aligned sights - but the 2012 serial numbers are bang on. The action is a little tight and needs a little working to loosen things up a bit. Once that happens, it is smooth as glass. Even the "sharp" edges have been smoothed out. A great investment!
Del Selins are also another great bunch to deal with. If shooting cast, I would recommend that the bullets be a little oversized and urge the use of gas checks. I received some great advice from very knowledgeable folks on here.
Also, you may wish to ignore one of the other comments above - Not all of us here have an almost fanatical dislike of Marlins. My son has a fantastic representation of the new beasties and I am again looking into one for my cast shooting next spring.
