Okay you Marlin Lovers and/or experts:
I've got a Marlin 336 in .30-30. I like this caliber, lots of bullet choices, life is good. I have owned a Guide Gun in .45-70 and I love the look of THAT Guide Gun.
How much effort (and cost) can you predict or envision to shorten the barrel of the .30-30 336 to an 18.5" ?
Then I would dearly love to replace the magazine tube (or shorten it, might be expensive here) so that in the end, I've got that half magazine look of the Guide Gun, but now it's a .30-30 that I also love. Best of both worlds??
And then I'm hoping to parkerize it, yeah, I know... I'm a mirror kommando from the Service Rifle game.
This is what I want my Marlin to look like... Taken from the Wild West Guns Gallery. They inspire me.
Have a gander:

Gotta love that grey parke'd look. Hey, it's my boomstick, I can customize it my way! My own custom Jungle/Guide Gun in .30-30
So I need advice from the lever gun or Marlin experts. Maybe my expectations are far fetched, but at least I know I can do my own parkerizing in my garage this winter with my 48" parkerizing tank.
Thoughts?

Barney
