Marlin 60, is it any good?

did you try SAIL? 10 minutes from there.

Great idea with tubes! Thought I don't envision myself in a situation where I would have to quickly reload. 14 rounds is more than enough for hunting and other situations :)

Went to BASS PRO today over lunch. They're out of stock!!! :-( But the manager told me an interesting fact -- amongst 50+ stores that Bass Pro has in N.America, the one in Vaughan is consistently #3 in sales but is treated like garbage in terms of stock. They pack up a pallet for them in the head office, send it off and only let them know two days in advance what's in there. They mix and match, they cannot even order anything in the store. That's how the U.S. is treating Canada -- like second hand citizens!!!

The reason I have my tubes, is not to have a lot of ammo , it's just quicker to reload the tube mag, instead of putting a round 1 by 1 tru the slot, you just put the tube ( arrow) into the end of the mag and pull the pin and they just drop in !!! Very handy in the winter , you can do it with gloves on

will buy used marlin 60

So after Bass Pro fiasco and shopping around pretty much everywhere (5 gun stores don't have any), I shall ask members here of they have one for sale.

I'll buy and pay for shipping, if necessary.

When I bought mine I got it at Wholesale Sports in Winnipeg & they had another in Regina, but that was over 8 months ago.

The lack of availability may speak volumes about the popularity of the 60.

Just to let you know, remington bought out marlin a year or two ago. I have a marlin xt-22 and love it, but I will NEVER buy a remington made marlin. All the quality of a marlin will be lost with a company like remington. Get a Ruger instead.

The xt 22 IS a remington made marlin! The xt-22 came out in 2011, remington took over marlin in 2007. You have yourself a quality remlin!

What are the iron sight options for the model 60/795?
I was hoping to get some tech sights, but they apparently don't ship to canada anymore.

Now they go for $259.95 there!!! When normal retail for them is $160-180.
Guess will wait for Bass Pro to restock those :-(

I had a model 60 fail on me due to my error. Squib with some sub sonics followed by a hyper sonic round causing the 2 to meet in the middle of the barrel. No bulge minor breaks (some small weaker internal parts) causing the action to lock open. Took it to my gunsmith he fixed it and then offered to buy it. He said that he took it out to test it and has never seen a plinking rifle like that hold such great accuracy especially after a failure. So that's where it resides now to the best of my knowledge he still has it. If I were n the market for an internal mag 22 again that's where I'd be heading

Just have to fiddle with their (usually broken) model selection boxes on the right side. The only one they actually have listed for sale is the 60SS:

60SS: Laminated two-tone black/grey hardwood stock / Mar-shield finish / Rubber butt pad / Nickel-plated swivel studs / Stainless steel breech bolt, barrel and outer magazine tube

Though this being Wholesale Sports, I would suggest phoning them to see if they actually have it in stock rather than doing it online, should you choose to buy one of them.

Oh, then it becomes interesting... They didn't have a picture on the site, so hard to tell if it's stainless, laminate or what have you...

sometimes the synthetic buffers cracked.

Anyone else have this problem? Is it common?
I found the buffer broken on my model 60. Western gun parts in Edmo wanted $30 plus tax for this little piece of plastic, when it's only like $8-$10 in the states. So I made my own out of some 1" X 1" nylon that I had, not perxactly the same but seems to work pretty good.

Talk slow, think fast.
