Picked up a Marlin 925R yesterday, and took it out today. I wanted to see if I culd make myslef a "budget gun"(meaning I spent as little as possible) and I think I suceded.

The gun was topped with a Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x 32, and I was shooting American Eagle 40g Bulk pack.

At 25 yards, there was really no group, just one slightly oval hole.

At 50 yards, the group was less than 1/4 inch.

I switched to Federal copper plated 40g stuff and to my surprise the groups opened up a bit. Not that it really matters, the gun is for plinking and chickens in the fall.

The only thing I didn't like about the rifle was the 7 shot detachable mag, but I gonna try and get a bunch of 10's, even if their nickle plated.

The scope wasn't bad either, for 50$!!! But I think a Bushnell Banner in the 4-12 power range is in the near future. I definitely miss the adjustable objective on my other Banner scope.

I denifinitely had a blast knocking off empty shotgun shells and spent .308 shells.:sniper:

Crazy - I bought this EXACT SAME rifle and it came in the mail today. Again, with the Bushnell 3-9x32 scope.

I haven't got out to shoot it yet, but I'm very optomistic that it'll shoot as well as I've heard. Let me know if you find out where to find those 10 rounders relatively cheaply.

Enjoy!

Theres a gun show about 20 mins out of wpg, it's suppose to be the second best in MB so I'm hoping to find a whack of them there tomorrow.

I exchanged the Sportsman rifle scope this morning and got a Bushnell Banner 4-12x 40, and installed it with Weaver rings and bases.

Now for the fun part.

The scope was scratched - in the box - already, looks like someone returned it no big deal I thought. Doesn't have to look good, just work.

At 25 yrds the gun was initially 2 feet off

Made some adjustments and RAN OUT OF WINDAGE, the scope is about 1 foot to the right. Not even on the paper.

Just a note, the other scope was installed with 3/8 dove tails and worked fine.

Is running out of adjustment common, did I screw up the install of rings and bases or am I going to have to fight with S.I.R. to get this resolved?

You wont have to fight,if you changed the rings and bases try taking them offagain turn the rings around and remount if this doesn't help take it to the store and let someone look it over for you.

I put the dove tails back on and everything was fine. The guy at SIR figures that since the gun comes drilled and tapped, maybe one of those holes is off.
Had to use rings with see-thru + dovetail type mount to get the clearence I needed
