Actually, your right. to each his own. Unfortunatly, I see no wrong in my statement. The word tactical is so over used these days, it really sad. I just looked at an add for Tactical walking sticks for Pete's sake!!!
I couldn't agree more! The word has been beaten to death and completely overused; I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with tactical tiolet paper.
I'm not biased, but I do like the traditional look of quality wood on a real hunting rifle. And In my opinion, a real hunting rifle is not a beanfield, sit down on your butt and wait rifle. To me, a hunting rifle is a stalking rifle. One that comes up naturally when game is spotted, and lends itself to delivering an accurate shot when those moments arise. A lever action rifle is ideally suited to this type of hunting. Most shots on game are not at 3-400 yards, unless you so desire it to be.
I fully agree! I love my black rifles, but there's something to be said about walnut stocked, blued barrelled handmade rifles, to which you can't really compare black rifles; they're made for two completely different purposes. I don't consider my 700P to be a hunting rifle. Although I do hunt with it, it's not what I would consider a "traditional" hunting rifle. It's not made for stalking around with in the bush. Also, you're correct; most shots on deer (especially around here) are made at 150m and less. You don't need a sub-moa rifle for that.
To me, there's more to the hunt than just shooting game. I like the experiance, and I feel it is mu duty to treat the game I pursue with the utmost respect.
I can't agree more. I have to say, my rifle isn't exactly the best thing for hunting in bush like this; I'd more like to hunt with an Enfield or a K98.
My statement about not calling somthing tactical, (Stainless/synthetic) and calling it classy (wood/blued) still stands. If somebody likes the longrange thing, that is their game and i'll never judge someone for it, nor will I wan't to takethem out to the playground after school to teach them a lesson.
I agree. I personally am not a fan of lever actions, but why does that matter whatsoever? If you like lever actions, then by all means, like lever actions. To each his own.
And if you guys want to make a so-called "tactical" lever action club, go for it. I personally think it's a goofy idea, but why does my opinion matter? If you'd have fun with it, go for it; that's what this is about.
By definition, they both have a "tactical" application; they just have two different types of applications. The Savage and Remington "tactical" is a "sniper" kind of tactical, and classifying a Marlin as such would be kind of silly. However, levers can easily be used for shorter-range, off-hand snap shooting, and classifying a Savage or Remington as such would also be silly.
Last but not least, have fun! And for you lever guys: why not check out the fun shoot we have in the precision rifle thread? It's not exactly lever-geared shooting, but why not join the fun?
