Wouldn't be my first choice on a guiding stint in the far north. Pumps don't have positive enough extraction in extreme cold weather.

I have used my 760Rem in -30+ without any problems at all.
My bet is I could toss out 5 quick aimed shots with a pump faster than a bolt.
The 35 Whelen would be more to my liking in bear country.I would choose a 12g pump with slug barrel and extended mag before a bolt for guiding.

I wouldn't want a lever action either for the same reasons.
I totally agree, but on the other hand, I've never had one jam or stick, and I've had a few. :)

all u need now is some of those see-through scope mounts

I have one in 30-06, but not the carbine. Only thing it REALLy needs is a good recoil pad.

no kidding eh

BTW Paul, this is what a real guide gun looks like ;) :D

Nice rifle, you see the way Remington took the time to do all that checkering by hand...thats pretty sweet, doesnt look cheesy at all.
Not to mention those quality sites, and action, yeppers SC thats the bees knees

And try some Warne permanent rings, they are much nicer looking
