Marlin Lever - Cross Bolt Safety?

I darn neat shot my toes off because my winchester did not have a safety.
This was a long time ago. NOW I NEVER HAVE A LOADED ROUD IN THE CHAMBER UNTIL I'M READY TO SHOOT. MY GOOD FREIND GOT SHOT IN THE BACK WITH HIS 30-30, AS IT SLID IN THE CANOE. HE IS VERY LUCKY THAT HE IS NOT DEAD. HIS RIFLE DID NOT HAVE A SAFETY??
TAKE CARE OLD TIMER 76
if you have around in the chamber then guess what he is lucky he got a second chance to fix stupid

as far as the cross bolt safety goes every year we have a hand full of guys come in the shop demanding a new firing pin because there gun did not fire when the trigger was pulled crossbolt safety i try to explain to them how it works they get down right billigerant are saying i don't know how to use a rifle a couple of times i have said yes that's what i'm saying almost got a punch in the nose
now i say yes sir come back in two days and it will be ready clean the gun test fire to show them fired brass show how the mechanisms works charge them 90$ and send them on there way
The Customer Is Aways Right

I just slide a 1/4" Oring over the red grooved part and use the half ####. Crossbolt safeties on a lever gun will just cause you issues if you forget to take it off and start ejecting live rounds thinking they are duds.
