Just bought a Marlin model 60, and excited to try it out. I have always liked lever action rifles because of the tube magazine, but until recently, didn't know that a tube fed .22 existed. I wasn't into the .22 market until recently, so that's why .22 models haven't been front and center for me.
Looking for feedback from people that have owned a Marlin model 60. Pros and cons. Thank you

Look for buffers. Don’t know the age of yours but buffers seems to be the first to go. Don’t “kink” the recoil spring. Don’t tighten the screws holding the trigger guard too tight, finger tight only. The trigger guards are prone to cracking .A cracked guard and the gun gets balky ,screws too tight causes problems also. DIP makes replacement aluminum guards, Kinneys in the states will ship to Canada. Mine are crazy accurate, they multiply like rabbits

I have a couple marlin .22’s. Both Ducks unlimited badged guns from the early 90’s. One bolt action model 880 with a 7 round magazine and one real similar to the model 60 with a 17 shot tube. Both are surprisingly good shooters even with fairly stiff triggers compared to a lot of the guns I own.

The bolt was mine when I was 12, the semi was from the same time and was my dad’s, but it’s mine now. Much rather he still owned it.

wurls - If you go to Rimfirecentral .com there is a section for Marlin Semis. In the Stickies there are lots of 'tips' on making them run well, read them all then focus on those by Arrowdodger. His advice I think is best. I've done lots to mine and have a trigger pull ca 1.5# or so. With good ammo can get around 1/2 to 3/4" groups. I've got a Tasco 4-12x40 scope that CT sells for about $125, but the irons on the 60 are fine too.
And on Amazon there's a "Speed loader" for ca $30 that holds 8x reloads that you can just dump into the tube. I made my own loader with vinyl tubing and cut-down 308 cases ->

On a side note, Landsborough auctions does a fantastic job on their photos, and an even better job with the descriptions. Unlike some other local place.

My dad used to shoot coyotes in the yard with his. Really well aimed first shot, then it turned into a machine gun. Successful at 25-75 yards. He had hunting rifles, but even though legal, he preferred it not echo through the valley.

A buddy has one with a wiggly stock .. tightened the screws holding the trigger guard just a tiny bit and that helped, but … yeah … it really felt like any serious tightening would crack the stock, so he didn’t tighten it much. I’ll let him know that’s a thing to watch for.

wurls - The scope depends on what you're going to shoot at. For general hunting, a 3-9x40 rimfire-scope is more than enough. For targets at 50+ yds you'd want at least 12x, higher is better and you would be served well with adjustable parallax. And target shooting is done best with a 'fine' reticle, NOT a "Duplex" type. You can get a good scope from the EE here, in whatever style and price you want.
