Marlin XL7 Reports

Received mine yesterday. Going to stuff some rags in the stock, but other than that I really like it, cannot wait to try it out. I have a Burris FF II 3x9x40 in the mail as we speak that I got good deal on from a fellow Gunnut. Just have to figure out what kind of rings to put on it now.

We had a very few more come in and , after filling the wait list, we have a 25/06 and a 30/06 both in camo left if anybody is interested. These are the only two left in stock and we aren't sure when we will get more.

What size ring are you guys using on your 30-06's????

I have heard people say mediums, but I was at the local gunshop with my rifle and it looks like I may need to you a high ring because of how high the bolt angles up.

How does it shoot?

I'm heading up to the range with the 270 and the 30-06 tomorrow morning, to confirm that the earlier groups weren't just luck! :D

Edit: Never did get up there. :(

Just got back from the range with the same 30-06 that I posted about back in January. (#11 in this thread)

Used 56 gr of AA 4350 this time. This rifle really shoots! :)

They where a great deal when they where going for $349 introductory price. I got one at that price from Clay. :D They seem to be getting closer in price to Savage and others.

This is definitely a keeper. It doesn't give you any excuse to go for any other deer/bear bolt action.

Last night the scope on the 270 was acting funny. Changed it and went back to the range tonight. They certainly weren't all this good, but here's the best group it shot with a new 3-90X40 Elite 3200 aboard.

Not bad for a rifle that doesn't have forty rounds through it yet. :)

You've got 2 already?

I ordered the 270 after discovering the 30-06 shot so well.
Here's the 3rd, 4th and 5th shots from my 30-06, after two shots at 25 yds to confirm the boresighting.

Was impressed enough, that I ordered a 270. It is now here, but -41C is just too cold to give it a try. Maybe tomorrow. :)

It came, back in January, but temperature was in the -40s then. Just started shooting it a few days ago.

Yep, it actually measures a bit over 3/8ths. However, while the other groups were good, they weren't nearly that small......... :D

No question about it, though, these rifles really shoot!
