The one I had in .25-06 was a beautiful rifle. I'm looking forward to seeing the new "Varmint" version...I was just reading about it on the Marlin site.
Good rifle.....and on sale at the place everyone hates.....![]()
Where is it on sale?
The place we all hate varries from day to day, sometimes.
One thing I really like about the xl7 is that there is a wood variant available for a few extra bucks..... I handled one at Lebarons and thought it was pretty nice.... If they had one available in a good yote calibre at the time I would have bought one....
Is the quality still there in the new ones?
I'm thinking Remington and the Marlin lever actions.

I got mine for $279.66 in 25-06/camo from WSS. It arrived yesterday. I did, however, have to call them after two weeks of waiting to remind them to fill the order. Just resized some .270 Win brass and going to shoot it tomorrow probably. I had one before in 7mm-08 and I really liked it. Snooze you lose.Actually, I just checked their website. It's the camo version (click on MODEL XL7C & XS7C under 'type') in 25-06, 30-06, and the 7mm-08 that is still on sale. Apparently. Sometimes. Maybe. Specific enough for you, Bruce?

They were created post marlington era (08 I believe)...so quality is the same... I really can't speak much for the lever guns... I never liked them as I have never been a fan of that action.... what I can say is that those that have used the xl-7 afield offer rave reviews.... and the price puts them in budget for most.. and theio ris awood option available which I like...
