Well, I think this project is done and I'm happy with how she turned out. With use, the action has slicked up very nicely and there have been NO failures to feed or extract. It is very accurate with slugs, groups2 3/4" OO buck into 5" at 7 yards with the modified choke tube in. The felt recoil with high velocity 2 3/4" 1 oz slugs is very mild due to the weight of the steel frame.

Looks good, except for the forearm. I'm talking about the Choate, not the modification of it. I have a Choate as well but I never used it due to how slippery it feels, that's probably why you added the strap. Get yourself a Speedfeed forearm or Remington police one, much nicer.

ETA: In regards to the extension loosening, I wonder how expensive it would be to have a ball detent installed on the barrel. Should be pretty fast and cheap to do.

Actually that Choate (I didn't even know it was a Choate) is not that slippery. I've only cycled it (unloaded of course) at home and the grip seems textured enough, even when wearing insulated gloves.

My hand slipped a couple of times on the full sized OEM Norinco forend (which I plan to sell as soon as I have range tested the Choate).

But damn this thing shoots well and is RELIABLE. I have put +500 birdshot and + 200 buckshot/slugs through it. It's a heavy shotgun so the recoil with heavy loads is nothing compared to my 18.5" Mossberg 500.

I'm thinking that if someone (like me) intends to do little or no modifications to the Norinco, it's almost a third of the price of the Fabarm... seems reasonable. I'm looking at both tomorrow.
 
if any one happens to be looking for a HP 9 complet new gun just with no barrle pm me i have posted them in the EE but i have a bunch of them goign dirt cheap.

Took a look at the Norinco _ _ _ _ Lawman... the rep told me that it would not accept 870 barrells etc., and it was not the same looking as the other Norinco 14"s, the HP9-1 and the N870-14.00

I won't be getting this particular type.

well the only norinco ones that u have had my hands o nthat are anygood are the HP9 from marstarm, the rest o nthem as far as i see it are 2nd grade.
I have 10 of the HP 9 shotguns sitting hear in my shop and 6 of the 7 remington barrle and the dlask barrle fit, soem more tight then others but they do all fit.
One rem 870 barlle just dont want to play.
I think with soem small fitting any rem 870 barrle with fit.
The gun shop hear has one of the Homeland secutity marked norincos and they are ####, the fiting pin was stuf and the ejector was missing.
I pointed that out to them,when they tryed to sell it to me.

I also love My Norinco, looking for a 26-28" 3" 870 Barrel with Rem choke tubes for Trap fun.
