marstar 70,000/10,000 SKS, eta aug 20th, price $189 new military.

At the $100.00-$120.00 price range, I would speculate even reflecting prices in the U.S., this would be monumentally DIRT CHEAP for this time in history. I have been told SKS's were below $100.00, but up to 15 years past! I would be slightly considering the condition of these SKS's, but at that price, I wouldn't be concerned.

Another confirmation as to these price rumors being accurate is the fact that Lever is selling their SKS's in 10 pack kits right now for 15% cheaper than they were 2 weeks ago. Knowing that Lever has been importing mulsurps for almost 60 years(?) maybe they are aware of what's going to happen on the price as well, so they are rushing to sell off their stock in bulk.

Here are a few more flames to fan to the rumor mill on SKS's and the possible price:

1. I heard one of the show exhibitors at the Steinbach, Manitoba show this weekend talk that Bell is importing another 4000 SKS's before the end of the year. I don't know other than Cabela's that gets these direct from Bell, but this is totally nothing to do with Marstar's 70,000 units. This further effects market price. (in the down direction)

2. All the exhibitors were low-balling SKS prices this weekend at the show. Usually at shows prices are higher than market value, but this time around that wasn't the case. Ironically, the few CHINESE SKS's that were at the show were selling HIGHER than Russian ones.

If they come in for the price range of $100.00-$120.00, I am seriously down for 30 pieces (three crates) or even more. If you hold onto them for 10 years, you'll double your money. Better than a Canada Savings Bond!

Yea, What he said!

Then I guess it's time to stock up on ammo. $160.00 a case is the new low I've seen at Wolverine. That's 14.2c per round pre-tax. Your next cheapest rifle you can bang on all day for this price is a .22. (4.4c per round pre-tax is the cheapest I have seen) You can't even get 9mm reloads for near this price. It's quite possible that a glut of ammo is coming in too. Maybe that's why the price is dumping as well. Or, you may see ammo prices RISE if all of the sudden there are tens of thousands of new SKS's out there.

Two indisputable facts that are fanning the rumor flame of lower prices and more quantity:

1. SKS prices NOW are dropping. (the lowest price going from $199.00 to $169.50)

2. 7.62X39 corrosive crate ammo prices NOW are dropping. (the lowest price going from $199.00 to $160.00 per crate of 1120 rounds)

Think of another positive reason for getting someone into getting a PAL and buying a gun, $100.00-$120.00 rifles they can target shoot and hunt with! Again, you can't even buy a brand new semi auto .22 rifle for $100.00. It's like 1989 all over again when Nagants were $54.00 at SIR!

I went to Van last weekend to stock up on some ammo. Looked at the SKS's Lever had. Couldn't say no to a beautiful one which I posted some pics last week. I honestly couldn't believe what you could get for that kind of money ($350 package deal with a box of ammo). There are many people buying the Czech ammo in 5 crate packages. Not so sure about the rifles, why should I buy 10 or 20 or 30 "once or twice dropped" surplus rifles? Most people will rather spend $50 more and get a nice one I think. Not tempting me at all. Unless you want to go into the parts business.

Romania - if I guessed right I get a free one. :dancingbanana:

i dont think its romania so no free sks for you !!! bcos they havent been liberated recently also not tropical.

like navyshooter said africa-ish , maybe sudan .

john said 1. recently liberated 2. tropical 3. bring in water and food 4. far away land .

Where can a broski get some non-corrosive.

My 858 is too expensive to eat a barrel with cheap ammo. And 36 hours or cleaning for each trip to the range to get the fouling out sucks.

I have a few Wolf left from a 550 box that I bought stateside when you used to be able to bring them across the border. $19 was a good investment, should have bought like 20.

On topic, I will buy another SKS since my last one died. Just to have. Don't want to spend $200 so at 120ish I'm game.

Too many tiny countries in Africa..... Where would you find 70,000 Rifles at the local market

Anywhere the Soviets were able to dump them in bulk when they no longer had a use for them. They didn't decomission much...mostly mothballed stuff and shipped it overseas. Whether it was T-34/85's or entire shiploads of small arms, they exported weapons like Hollywood exports bovine feces!

Do I have to be the one to call John on this lie? 70 000 rifles? Give me a break, with aprox 1500 rifles per container, you are looking at the better part of a full train of guns. I understand that you have a dozen or two staff which would be 1700-3000 guns per employee to register pack and ship.

Also, if you were realy bringing in 70 000 surplus military rifles into Canada would you realy go on a public fourm to anounce it ware Gun hating trolls would read it and it would be all over the left wing media?

By most accounts there have been less then 10 000 SKS rifles brought into Canada this year and saturated the market, how the hell can you dump another 70 000 guns? The truth is, there are not nearly that many coming in.
