marstar 70,000/10,000 SKS, eta aug 20th, price $189 new military.

All sounds good I wouldn't mind buying a couple for projects as well. IF they come seems to be the only true question. 43 pages of comments and a cool thread title is all we have so far.

Well,I guess I know where the spring gunshow budget is gonna go..there's gotta be a few Romanians in that pile!Maybe Albanian,EG,.....and some nice 1949 Russians....ahhhhhh

I thinking a nice combo pack would be nice,

One minty NIB, with all the misc. bits like bandeliro, baynet etc.
Two used but in good shape,
Three used but in bad shape,
And 3 with the mud still on them from whatever puddel they came out of!

OOOHHHH the fun a guy could have bubbing up a couple of the almost buggered ones!

I know I am I am in for one or two for sure, or more, if I can afford it.......

Here we go again, who said "you can't please all of the people all of the time "?

When we don't advise regarding material coming in, we catch flack from our customers who like to know ahead of time so maybe that can put a few dollars aside....

Now the fact that we are letting people know, we catch hell, oh well some days you just can't win for losing....

By the way we NEVER advise on material that we do not own and have all paperwork in hand.... I could comment on warehousesfull offshore, mostly material that cannot come here, so why bother....?

If providing this advance notice has offended you, I apologize.... If this type of info is not wanted let me know and it will cease immediately. I never knew it would be so disruptive

Not a shot at you johnone Sorry

I re read it and it came out wrong my thoughts were with you. If everyone wants to complain than do it elsewhere it is just a long thread of complaints when you were passing on valuable info.

SORRY MARSTAR is one of the best in my books

Not flack, but man would that be nice instead of stuff just arriving when we are broke and waiting 2 years for it to return again, and again...........

Doesn't this remind anyone of the CanadaAmmo $99 pistol thread? All the #####ing and complaining about the wait but HOLY CR*P BATMAN!! A $99 Pistol! I intend to click through any pre-purchase link as soon as it is up and then sit quietly and wait patiently for 2 or 3 SKSs.

i would like an advance notice so please keep on posting .... thanks

John, would you make a special section for battlefield pickups? (not to toss them to the junk pile because they are well used but still serviceble)
Rifles with stickers, interesting slings, etched names, funky furniture...

Basically, anything out of the ordinary that has some historical significance that the users have done to their rifles. I am pretty sure your lot must have some cool samples.

Johnone,

I appreciate the info, and wish these other guys did as well.

Some folks just can never be made happy, no matter what you tell 'em.

Hey, I was really looking forward to buying a UK-59, to the point that I even went out and bought a couple of cases of 7.62x54 ammo. Then things changed, and we can't get them in, so I sold the ammo....at a loss.

*shrug*

No big deal, I haven't gone to Marstar demanding that they make good the money I lost on the ammo, as it wasn't ever their fault. (Didn't even get the ammo thru them anyhow....they were out of stock at the time!)

Marstar has continually brought in some really unique items for the Canadian firearms community, and they do so in spite of mountains of red tape, mountains of paperwork, piles of money that they have to put out in advance ('cause stuff ain't free) and in spite of those nay sayers who don't appreciate the work that goes into it.

I think it's pretty dang cool that someone is able to buy 70,000 SKS's. Think about that for a minute. Even if he only has to pay $50 a rifle for them, and pays just half up front, and half on delivery, that means he has to front up $1,750,000.00. Or, if he has to pay in full before delivery, he's putting up THREE AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS, and that's if he's paying $50 a rifle....if it's more than that, the sky is the limit!

I mean, really, how many of YOU have the know-how to do this....or the assets? And really, why the heck are you complaining when the guy who's doing it, and putting THAT MUCH OF HIS MONEY ON THE LINE, hoping that the Liberals don't get in and he's stuck with rifles he can't sell, GOES ON VACATION WITH HIS FAMILY FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS?!?!?!??!?!?

Geebus guys. How ignant can ya get?

John is a sharp businessman. Yes, he's going to buy low, sell high, and doing so in great volume means a discount for him, and probably a corresponding discount for us.

But consider, he's got probably at least a couple of MILLION DOLLARS tied up in just this one deal, and that's not chump-change. If he's borrowed from the bank to be able to buy it, he's going to have interest charges to pay, he's going to have importation fees, all the red-tape and such, the cost of having his employees individually check each one of those rifles when they hit the ground in Canada and get them all registered (unless the Longgun registy gets scrapped!)

Take a second, think about just a few of these things, and consider them before you spout off about John's profit-mongering ways (holy cow....a business....making a PROFIT....what a concept...especially in a recession!) and quit yer complaining.

John's giving us a heads up on some new product that's on it's way, and he keeps hinting at other stuff (I'm still hoping for a cheap belt-fed!)

I actually enjoy seeing John's posts. I can only imagine walking into some musty cold-war warehouse full of hardware with a shopping list.

NAVY SHOOTER;
All I can say is thank you for understanding, yes it is a tricky business, what can go wrong will likely do so....

And by the way the bank is not "user friendly" if you want to borrow for guns, they will lend on a personal basis but NOT to a nasty gun business.... No we use our own money, Marstar is very fortunate that over the years we have become completely self-financing, it took a long time to get there.... But we do have the support of thousands of loyal customers like yourself....

The Vz-59 is a good example of what can go wrong, we invested time, energy and $ into the project, submitted our prototype only to be told "sorry it is not satisfactory". Because of the pending criteria changes in Ottawa we decided that even if we made a few changes it would not fly, so we terminated the project then and there....

As I have said many times, this business is somewhat like going to the casino, prior to going you decide on your budget (how much you can afford to lose) then you go ahead, if you are lucky all goes according to plan and you win, if not you could lose....

You know, this is a mighty good idea. I'd be interested in something like this as well. :)

And yes, a BIG thank you to Marstar for continuing to bring neat stuff for us into the country. Especially when the government is doing everything it can to shut the firearm business down.
