marstar, ALWAYS SOLD OUT

I have bought 2 rifles from Marstar, the prices were great, and the service was great. I phoned my order in both times. They were shipped quickly and packed very well.

I've bought stuff from marstar in the past; great customer service but I gotta say
Your website sucks.
and before you go off and rant about "oh well you offer no critique BLAH BLAH BLAH"
I know plently of websites that don't suck; in fact most of the ones at the top of this page in the banner DON'T SUCK.
Maybe you should try to emulate them? that'd be a start in the right direction at least.
Again; great customer service; thanks for bringing in a s**ttonne of guns for me to play with too XD
But update your effing site man XD
and the reason I offer no critique is because I'm not a computer tech; I don't know what these fancy smancy terms are called.
I just now you should have an accurate product listing and a shopping cart function. That is all I know to make a good site.
I don't work in the business (admited) but me and people like me are your target demographic(gun luverz); so at least try to make us happier (by fixing your site...keep bringing in those sweet guns; that makes us happy too XD)

I haven't bought from Marstar yet but let me be one voice that likes the 'archived' information about out of stock guns. I find it interesting and informative to see the price and description of what was, and may someday be, available. It must be the internet generation that expects everything realtime. It used to be you had to visit a store to see what was available.

I've said it before. There should be a wish list button on items that links to one's profile. They get to know what people want, can purchase accordingly, and we can be notified. I used to check the site more often, but after checking for certain things 50-100 times over 3-4 years there is no point.

LETS CLEAR UP A FEW THINGS;
Our site will NOT be "fixed" as many have suggested.... The current will be scrapped....

We have two people working on the new site.... We have installed, new software, new hardware, etc, etc....

It will likely be sometime before we launch the new site, it will be a seamless transition.

There will be many interactive features, many new and inovative design novilties, etc....

John....

HEDONISM BOT;
"I'd love to one day buy something from Marstar but unless I can get there in person it'll never happen."
I'm sorry you feel that way, but as you know we are a mailorder/warehousing operation here in Canada, we are not set up for visitors.... We are open to LE, Military, museums, government agencies etc, etc....

"Does anyone care what they had for sale in 2002? Clean that site up so I can give you my $. "
I would ask you to read some of my previous replies, the new site will ONLY feature goods that are in the warehouse or that are within days of arriving....
As soon as an item is sold out it will be removed
As I said before will NOT discuss or otherwise advise on goods we have purchased until the are either here or due to arrive within days....
John

ZZ DENIS;
"....But as others have said, the website needs work... A LOT of work. It's based on mind 90's technology - any high school student from that era could make a website like that using a basic HTML editor."
Please read my other replies, the current site will go, we will not repair, or up date.... The new site will feature today's technology....

"Even websites of tiny, family-owned businesses have those features these days. "
This is quite true, but they do not have the volume for one to contend with, the variety, the numerous issues we have to consider....

We have conducted a study over the past few months of software, hardware, the various technologies etc, etc.... We have consulted with experts in the field....
In a while you will see the results, a site second to none....

A little patience please
John

Hey johnone you web site is a huge wealth of infromation for people like me. Would it be possible for you to have a section on your new website for all your digrams and parts list, plus all the products that you use to carry? I hate how people bash your website and people like me that like using it have to suffer.
Also I hope your not going to ditch the Beaver cuz he :rockOn:

I'd prefer to have the sold out items left... Allows one to compare values with other sources, see how much the other guys have jacked up their price tags!

Do you guys understand the volume of stuff that John sells from his business? It is enormous.
I just bumped into John at a local gun shop a couple weeks ago, and he said demand was great, but supply is the big issue.
You have to realize that a lot of the things Marstar deals with are one time surplus sort of things. I too have been late in ordering and missed things as well. Plus in the past I have missed a few things that never made it on the website since there were so few of them and I found out from talking with John later about it. Such is life - just like I have missed a number of things on the EE here.
John puts up with import BS and told me that sourcing stuff is getting more difficult as well.
I have known and dealt with John personally since I was just a kid with my father and one of his dealer buddies. He is an A1 upright honest guy to deal with. I have bought a lot of stuff from him, and he has even sourced a few pistol parts for me back in the 90s that were totally unavailable from any source including the USA!
Come on give John a break. If there is truly a problem with something you buy just call him and he will tell you to ship it back for a replacement or refund - I have also done this with a couple things that did not work.

CD

It not about Marstar needing a break. I know what I want and will buy it but it was not worth checking 100s of times. I am glad that is getting addressed. We have needed a break, and both parties benefit from newer tech.

But having a crappy website is necessary for operating a firearms business in Canada I thought.

Not even Cabelas' or WSS break this rule!

It seems to me that if a new website is in the works, complaining about the current one isn't going to change anything. Perhaps it would be prudent to wait for the new website, and go from there. As for things being out of stock, as long as the website is accurate in such things what's the problem? Consider it window shopping.

DECKARD;
As I have repeated several times, once the new site is up and running ALL out of stock items not available in the near future will be removed.... There will not be any talk or discussions regarding goods in our facilities off shore, or perhaps recently purchased, in other words we will only discuss goods when they are within days of arrival or in our Canadaian warehouse....
John

As I have repeated several times, it is okay to have an area of the website for a wish list. We see it, we know it is NOT in, and we click I want it. Then the automated email tells us it is in.

Then X person B*tches and complains to Marstar daily for two years because "MY ###x is not in!" While the things are sitting in a container overseas for any number of reasons..

A waste of manpower and time..

John if I may offer a suggestion.
you need to get an automated sale system (I don't know what its called I'm just spittballing) that as an item sells; it removes it from inventory and when the site updates every 24 hours it will reflect the NEW inventory.
