Well, let’s hope that instead of changing their minds about the new guns they don't decide to make all VZ-58/CZ-858 prohibited.

Just trying to look at the potential worst case scenario.

I don't think they'll be able to do it that easily.

When Order in Council is in session no ones firearms are safe...

12(3) Converted Automatic has no list.

True, and I have seen an original Vz-58 12(3) CA for sale here, but that didn't make the CZ-858 prohib. Still doesn't explain it.

Unless they are disputing the origin of this batch of receivers and claiming they are take offs, or something like that.

I doubt that there is a logical reason that will stand up to the letter of the law. Some beaurocrat is making it up as he goes along, no doubt.

FYI - This was posted by CanAm yesterday in the Canada Ammo forum in regards to the issues with the T97.

Customs is concerned about it, they download to the RCMP, the RCMP reports OK, goods are released. We are just waiting for the wheels to turn. I am not concerned about reclassification. The T97 has been sold for 2 years already as a restricted with not issues. It is likly the size of the order that scared the CBSA.

Thing is there is no reason that I can see that the T97 should be in the Restricted category. The carbine maybe, but not the rifle.

Ahh bureaucracy! arbitrary decrees by the unaccountable... do we know which org is behind this? CFC or RCMP? is there an ombudsman for either?

I removed totally OT post on RCMP - what the hell - how the hell did discussion on red rifles turn into RCMP tasering people and got shot up? Jesus.

If these are a C/A then why is anyone surprised at the classification they have received.

The importers should have had a better understanding of what they were importing.

If the receivers were ever auto, then filling in the receivers with JB Weld or what have you is an obvious way of losing your inventory.

:bangHead::rolleyes:

I'm sorry I started this.....please lock it up.....:wave:

Locked. I'm seeing a lot of speculation, the vast majority of which is completely baseless. Add to that the odd ball tangent that this thread took and it's closed.

Once we have some answers, rather than random guesses we can develop a plan for action if it is warranted.
