Marstar is Back

Best of luck to you guys. Marstar has a history of excellent prices, cool imports, and unfortunately poor customer service. Anyone who was a regular on CGN back in the day will know there was more than just one incident of questionable descriptions under the Marstar banner.

I purchased my first rifle from you guys and remember the days when Marstar was one of the biggest suppliers in my circles. I would be happy to see you succeed. One good way to demonstrate to everyone that customer service is different from before is to engage your customer base with some sale prices on products they can't refuse. Then when you hook them by their greed (I can't say no to a good sale), you deliver the products in world class fashion and support any followups.

After one or two big sales, you'll have that following back up and the past will be just that.

I've purchased acouple firearms from you in the passed and one recently since its been taken over. Had an issue with it, sent off an email and I got a response by email and a phone cal the next day and had a replacement part sent out the same day, can't complain from my personal experience.

Please bring in some reasonably priced KCI drum mags! also if you can get your hands on drum mags for the vz 58 that would be great aswell.

I’ve never had issue with the company. If you still have the same warranty (which I have used to satisfaction), I’ll be content.

Pity on the trench guns, but the 1897 riot is still a good product, and more useful with the chokes.

Keep the mecgar mags coming too

Welcome back to CGN Marstar

Ive had very positive dealings with Marstar. On one occasion I had to use the warranty for Pedersoli pistol and the service was beyond what I would expect from a dealer/importer. I understand others have had different experiences, but they have been good to me.

Their return to CGN triggered me to ask if they can import the new Pedersoli Cook underhammer Pistol.

I'll be honest and say I've never had any interaction with the company. I followed a link to their website last year, and found something I was interested in, but chose not to buy because of their rep here. Now I'll go back and try to remember what it was and if I still want it. I wish Marstar well if their issues are behind them.

IronCanadian, $kull, KanadianShooter, Twyeh, Snake, Jay (great to see you sir), Dunno, Simonyzer, Freedomisn'tfree, Tungngroove, Neongreen, Brian James, Silverfoxdj, .45automatic, yomomma, All in fun, ricohman, Thank you for your support. It means a lot to us here.

nowarning shot, Customer service and Politeness have taken me a long way. Thank you for your support.

lanis, better wear a helmet!

1ABNDT, Great to see you here.

Doesn't pass the sniff test at all............it sounds more like John is barking orders at the workers remotely and a shift of official titles was made to appear like the house has been cleaned up.

An apology from the company is worthless if the people involved in the T2 scam are still employed/involved in the company, you may as well be giving us all the middle finger.

Grove, you're entirely free to make up your own mind, and I don't blame you if your doubtful. However I'd ask you to consider the following;
1) John has been in this industry a long time, is of retirement age, and had no problem telling people what he thought.
2) We recently invested in a new website to lay the foundation for our continued operation. Something that someone close to retirement isn't likely to authorize
3) We're back on CGN and my first post was address to the T2s.

It doesn't make sense to me that he'd shy away from directly addressing people, be investing tons of money into new infrastructure, and discussing the T2s in the way that I am.

Occam's razor would suggest that I'm telling the truth, but I don't blame you for wanting more evidence. Thank you for at least taking the time to read the thread. Hopefully we'll have more interactions in the future.

He's been gone for a while now. It's legit
and
So why did Marstar just post that he's still involved?

Neither of these statements is false, this is the reason I didn't answer the question in the first place, and instead provided information for you to make up your own minds. The answer depends entirely on how you interpret the definition of 'financial interest', and regardless of how I answered it, someone may find my response misleading.

Justins, I don't take things personally, I understand your position, and I don't blame you. I appreciate you taking the time to read our thread, and I appreciate the nuance in your response. Ripping open old wounds, to use your words, in this case I feel its part of the healing process.

Hammermill, I get it. Thank you for being open enough to reserve judgement until we've made our own mistakes. Hopefully in time we'll change your mind.

wannabe, hilarious! no offense taken, I've got way thicker skin than that. keep'em coming!

SigWig, We've been looking into that. I'll touch base with procurement and see where they're at.

MuthaFunk, thank you for your continued support.

srnm, thank you for the order, and again, sorry you had some issues. We're always looking for better prices, but drums generally have silly pricing.

#1bcshooter and Gub, That's entirely the idea. As I said, I felt that putting out a sale with our post would have devalued the post, and been counterproductive.

Mark-II, the warranty will still stand, but I'll be rewording it in the coming months to make it more clear.

Astute observer, Some (3) employees from that era are still with the company, representing a turnover of approx. 80%. All of the technical staff have rotated over. I know for a fact that those three had no say in the decision making with regard the T2's.

I'm of the personal belief that you shouldn't deny someone the chance to redeem themselves, especially when guilt by association is a such a low standard for judgment.

Thank you everyone for your posts,
Payam

Maybe you could post on how Johnone is involved (as you've suggested that he still is), so people can come to their own conclusions?
I for one (and I'm definitely not alone here) would be hesitant to deal with you if I have the knowledge that that man is in any way involved with the final say in the procuring of your goods, and thus capable of doubling down on another dangerous product like the T2's at my safeties expense.

Hey bigplinker, I did on post 28 in response to lightinfantry. I'm happy to clarify if you have any specific questions.

To quote:

Light Infantry; John has sold the company, and is no longer involved in the management or day-to-day operation. He provides advice related to international import/export red-tape. We do host John's vault, which sells some of his personal items as part of an agreement.

I do speak with him directly and ask for his opinion on some issues, since he does have a lot of time in the industry, and knows a lot more about our contacts than I do at this time. The decisions being made are ultimately ours and you can hold me accountable.

I hope you understand that I can't definitively answer your question as a yes or a no, but I'm happy to give you the information I have and let you make up your own mind.

Pretty sure that no matter how or if John is involved, now that the new owners are out of pocket and need to recoup their financial investment and staking the shaky reputation of Marstar on it, it would be foolish and business ending to repeat or even been seen to try and deceive their customers again.

They know that CGNers have long memories and will be watching closely for potential scams and customer service issues from Marstar.

In fact, I predict that the new owners will have the best customer service and competitive prices to overcome the past history. Time to buy is now, before things potentially change again in the future....( maybe!)
