Interesting.

I, for one, am skeptical.

I don't ban/suspend/remove posts/complain about people for posting respectful responses that can be supported with evidence. I did clip your post in my quote here to keep this thread readable (Hope you'll forgive me)

The company has changed hands. John1 wanted out to enjoy his retirement. We were faced with the prospect of shutting down the business, or purchasing it and not having to find jobs in other industries, I for one, don't want to do anything else with my life than sell and work on firearms. Johns vault is being maintained to help him liquidate his personal stock and free up space in the warehouse, and this was part of the purchase agreement. I ask him questions related to red tape and negotiating with our international counterparts, not related to day to day operations or how the company is run.

I'm not going to hide behind lies, I'll be absolutely upfront with anyone who wants to discuss the situation. Hopefully that means something, and hopefully, when we've earned it, you'll be willing to give us another shot. If it doesn't or if you could never do business with Marstar because of what happened under the previous owners, as I said, I don't hold it against anyone. You have the right to spend your money the way you see fit.

Best regards, and thanks for reading the thread.

I had lunch with John one summer - a few years ago there was a demo tent setup at CFSAC (now CAFSAC) and some of the AIA Enfields were brought out.

I also, once upon a time, submitted a resume for a position offered at MARSTAR.

As mentioned, I am...skeptical...and now willing to bet my money again on a company that's left many of us once bitten twice shy.

For those who are not familiar with the history, I will encourage you to read the tale of the T2 Garand that I have linked above.

The history is there, and the name is tarnished, particularly in the eyes of many of us who are serious collectors.

NavyShooter, Thank you for your open-mindedness, Please feel free to contact me directly should you have any issues, I'd be happy to help if I can.

BigRobb, The thread doesn't seem out of control to me, and its important that people who had an issue with Marstar have a place to write a longform message that we can respond to.

Why continue with the same name if it has such a negative history to it?

Grouse river changed and it seemed to work for them. Hard to out run someone's history with the same name

Lots of people still won't do business with the new grouse river, I guess the name change has fooled some

For all those saying they should have changed the name of the company, I salute them for keeping the same name. First off changing the name of a company can be pricey. But the biggest thing is, if they had changed the name, did their new website, etc, people would be accusing them of trying to hide. People would whine and ##### that they were trying to start anew and hide from what had happened in the past.

Instead they kept the name and came here hat in hand with a true apology instead of just waltzing back and acting like it never happened. They are owning up to what the store had done in the past and letting us know things have changed.

That is a very big step to make.

cdm, kodiakjack, lol.

1ABNDT, Ha! I shared that around the office, well played sir.

Brasstacks, Thanks for the kind words and the support. I still have that website backed up, I may have to pull it back out for an April Fools...

Lee, The bigger issue is finding SVTs these days...

Gub, Interesting guess but incorrect.

Bros, 35 years is a long time, hell, I wasn't even around back then...

Saskdude, We had a conversation about it, and came to a consensus that we didn't want to hide behind a new name. Some people will never change their mind about Marstar, and they wouldn't change it even if we did rebrand and
I don't blame them (thats their right). Besides, the military in me prefers being straight-up about the changes.

Janeau, thank you for the continued support.

neoconfection, Thanks.

Curtton, Thanks! We're always looking out for new (old) products.

Yes Payam that take down lever! That’s why you guys rock!

Interesting.

I, for one, am skeptical.

his site, and all of this information is still in the public domain.

Dude, we all know what happened. Thanks for protecting us but we are all adults and can decide for ourselves who to do business with. Your response is ridiculous and serves no one. People still deal with TSE, and JR is still there so gunnutz people seem do do their own thing without advice from others on where to shop. I'm quite sure a similar fiasco will never be repeated by Marstar so you should feel more secure dealing with them now. Buy where you want. No need for all the drama.

If it is anything like before most of the people working there didnt know anything about guns and were there for a job. I assume those people knew very little about the problem. their old gunsmith (use the term loosely) frank and his buddy (people shooting in the old videos) would have known they were garbage guns. if they are still there then nothing has changed. If they are gone then I dont see an issue dealing with marstar again.

Wish you much luck in your future endeavours.
I hope you'll be able to source some of the old hard-to-find milsurp parts once again. But I have a feeling many of those unicorns have left the stable.

Will you be able to get Norinco to do another run of the M97 in the trench config? eg. heat shield and bayonet lugs.

Welcome back Marstar, I would say you guys are taking the right approach. Hope it all works out and you guys can prove a new reputation for your business. I’ve been looking to get a SAA revolver the last year or so and my search always ends up on your site.

asasdasasd, Mustang Frank, Stray, Dra, Xperience, Flyrad, Thanks for the support, We do appreciate it.

Brian, Hired as a gunsmith actually.

Armed Ginger, That was exactly the intent. Thank you for the support.

Heineken, Thanks, and happy to support the CCFR! If we don't stick together now, then we're going to drown alone later.

Bleaches, I'm told this is 'the last' batch of 1897's, and that there won't be anymore after this. In my experience, this sometimes means they'll 'find' some in 5-6 years...

Hossone, thanks for the support, feel free to call if you have any questions on our 1873's.
