If you have fluxed properly during your smelting you should be OK. Flux cleans impurities and acts as a reductant, helping redisolve material which has oxidized.
In the pot use wax which is a reductant only and not a true Flux.
Try Ellwood Epps ( site sponsor info@ellwoodepps.com) . If you're struggling PM me. I have it and use it. It's better (IMO) than ANYTHING else I've used in the last 40 years. It just melts, no fumes, no smell and you just use a very small amount.
If i don't bother fluxing what i do is scrap the top off the pot then toss everything into an empty beer can. Once it fills up half way or more i remelt everything in there and get a ingot or 2 from it of really hard lead that i use again.
