While I've had the odd brain fart moments during the matches I've shot at (I'm still green at this) but today I had my biggest brain fart moment at the L1 match at HAHA.
On the 4th stage, I was the first one in the shooting rotation. Did my walk-thru and mentally figured out how I was going to tackle the stage. Stage starts off with the gun loaded and on the table, shooter sitting on a stool with hands on knees. On the command LAMR, loaded up using my Barney mag, turned to confirm to the RO that gun on table is loaded at the start of the stage <insert brain fart here>, he says "Yes" and I set my gun on the table, sit down, hands on knees. RO kindly asks "Is your gun loaded?" and I replied, "Yes it is." RO, says "Okay.... <I'm thinking, maybe something's not right> Shooter ready? Standby... BEEP!" and grab the pistol, get to the first target, pulled trigged "BANG!" pulled trigger for second shot "CLICK!" "CLICK!" I'm thinking WTF and start remedial action figuring it's a nosedive or jammed mag and press the mag release to drop it... then it occurs to me where I failed when no mag drops free. I must've lost about 4-5 secs. DUH!
I finished the stage and my buddy says "Everyone noticed you didn't load a mag and wanted to tell ya but couldn't." I know that feeling 'cause I've seen it or other "Oops" moments happen to him and other shooters in the past. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself and hopefully learn from your mistakes.
Another minor brain-fart moment that seemed to have creeped up in my last two matches seem to be my trigger finger refusing to pull the trigger even when my brain and eyes confirm "Sights lined up! FIRE!" and my finger says "When? Now?"
Anyone else suffer from the odd brain fart moment during a match? C'mon, I know there are a few other "human" shooters out there.
