That internet-repeated generalization is often misunderstood. In CIP-member states like Czech Republic, firearms manufacturers such as CZ make firearms to CIP specifications. CZ doesn't have smaller bores than allowed by CIP regulations. Firearms made in places such as Germany and Finland are also made to CIP specs, including Anschutz and Tikka, among others.

North American-manufactured firearms are generally made to SAAMI specs. These include Savage, Remington, Winchester.

CIP specs are different from those of SAAMI. Below is a CZ-produced chart that illustrates the differences between CIP and SAAMI for .22LR. SAAMI .22LR bores are larger than CIP bores.

 
i went with a .17-.20 carbon rod and adapter. about 100.00 total. little better than 180.00 for the bore tech rod! thx for all the help and suggestions, cheers
 
You can also buy VFG felts that uses their own adapter. Works very well and you can adjust how tight just by how far you tighten the retainer. It’s all I use in my rimfires.

I use a Pro Shot one piece stainless .20 cal rod, a Pro Shot adaptor and a Possum Hollow bore guide, all from Nordic Marksman. Very happy with this set up.
 
Alternatively, one might remove the bolt guide plate before cleaning and any standard .22 cleaning rod (except perhaps nylon coated) will work with ejector interference removed from the equation.
 
I have a Brass 3-piece from A-zon, they now cost ca $15. I measured and it's ca 0.203" BUT only 31" long plus the T-handle. Dunno why you want 42"? It occasionally hits the ejector bit on my CZs but doesn't get hung up. Also it's brass -softer than steel - and too hard to 'collect' abrasive particles . . . especially if you wipe it off frequently. And quite safe if you Don't abuse the muzzle.
