Remember when we had to wait for next months Sitrep to come out to see your scores...the Internet is a wonderful thing, it has also created a culture of impatient people who demand everything RIGHT NOW.
Here are some of my thoughts:
Shooters: remember that the workers have put in a lot of effort to put on the match and to comply with club rules the ranges have to be cleaned first and everything put away before leaving...the scores can then be done once the stats person (who may or may not have also been the MD, CRO, RO, RM, build and teardown staff) If they don't get them done that night, they have to wait until after going to and returning from their day job on Monday and then email them off. For my self I have been working evening and weekend shifts Tuesday through Saturday. If I receive them on Monday I can get them up that day, if not I will likely not see them till Wednesday morning when I next check my email. Then they will be posted. Generally it will take me an extra day from when I get them. Sorry, but I gotta pay bills.
Match directors: realize that there are basically two types that shoot this sport, those that shoot it for fun, and competitive types. The fun shooters don't really care too much if they have to wait for their scores, if they see them at all, the competitors want them around the time they fire their last shot. In fairness to the competitors the match is for score and there is a responsibility to have the scores available as soon as possible. I have seen some MDs use generic club score sheets to score matches, these often cause issues because they are not a standard layout that scorekeepers are used to and they get creative on where they fill in times and scores which make stats a nightmare. MSS will create score sheets. Use these or make a duplicate if you are having the two copy ones made, Palm scoring may be the ultimate answer.
Scorekeepers: if you have taken on the job of scoring a stage, take the extra time to look at the layout of the score sheet and make sure you are entering the scored times in the right place and that you write CLEARLY also take the time to do the totals at the bottom of the sheet. The things that take the absolute longest when doing stats and cause stats people to pull their hair out is; guessing what the time is because it can't be read or is in the wrong place (is that the time of day or the time for the run?) and having to take the time on every score sheet ( 80 shooters X 8 stages is 640 score sheets, a fairly typical count in Ontario) to do the totals first so the scores can be entered.
We all need to take responsibility for making the match go smooth, patching and setting takes a load off the stage staff so they can get your scores done properly, helping out with running matches or if all else fails and you are still not happy how fast scores come out, volunteer to do stats! I doubt you will get turned away.
