I figured that we should have a thread where you could talk about the Service Rifle match you just shot, post your recent scores, get tips for the various matches or whatever else.
My unit team just had a training weekend here in BC to get ready for the upcoming BC SR Championships next weekend.
It went pretty well till half way through the 500m stage.
Score went as follows

1. 47-2v
2. 46-2v
3. 42-3v
4. 49-4v
Total 184-12v

5. 47-3v
6. 47-2v
7. 48-6v
8. 47-2v
Total 189-13v

9. 47-0v
10. 46-1v
11. 40-1v
12. 30-0v
Total 163-2v

Match Total 536-27v

After the 500m rapid I knew something was wrong. All my shots had climbed into the 4 ring at the top of the target.I had a nice group but it was all 4's.Anyways I went on to the 5-100 rundown and ended with a bunch of misses.Yesterday I took the scope apart and found that the post that the elevation dial sits on had broken loose and was spinning freely with the elevation dial when I rotated it!I'm glad I found that it had internal problems because if I hadn't found anything wrong, my confidence about my equipment for the matches this coming weekend would have been in question.

Anyone else shot all 12 recently or have anything to add about thier experiences?

Longshot,

This is from last weekend at Connaught Ranges.

1. 42-0v A tough start, shot a ring around the bull. Need to settle down.
2. 44-6v One miss, go figure (they all felt good).
3. 49-4v Shot this sitting, body armour makes it tough, good result but felt shaky.
4. 38-4v Two misses, couldn't get the rifle stable in the shoulder with the armour shoulder pads.
Total 173-12v Not bad, but below my confort level.

5. 47-4v A good deliberate. Things are looking fine.
6. 50-6v Nice. Things are clicking.
7. 48-3v Nice rapid, took my time and life is good.
8. 47-4v Everything is clicking, one bad shot that was a scoring hit.
Total 192-17v That's more like it.

9. 46-3v Wind has picked up. The 500 phase will be challenging.
10. 47-2v Relaxed and things worked out well.
11. 44-0v Nice group that is just left of the V Bull, wind changed.
12. 35-1v One miss at the 200 and one at the 100. Not good, need to practice this more.
Total 172-6v Must do better, the 500 can always be challenging.

Match Total 537-35v I'm ok with that for this early in the season, expect to do better at the summer moves on.

Nice!I wish we had a range that had Connaught type wind on it.Ours is pretty sheltered and doesn't have much wind to practice in.I'm pretty happy with mine too considering the time of the year.On a completely different note I got Bio-Energetic Intolerance Elimination done and I no longer have allergies and hay fever. It's made it easier to concentrate while laying in fresh cut grass.Hopefully things will go well this coming weekend.

I found myself start sucking at kneeling lately (becasue I spent too much time on CGN staring at the monitor instead of shooting) but start kicking ass for no reason in the 500m running down - I did spend more time doing PT (especially circuit training) these days.

So more physical brute force but less skill....:)

I just shot a 32.2V for Match 12 on 24 May , last weekend. The gym sessions sure help like crazy, GT!! I'm super pleased also how my Falcon Menace 1.5 x 5 x 30mm worked. I still have to get used to it!

Shot Matches 1-12 for the first time this weekend. Had only shot 5-8 before, last September. A new experience for me.

1. 49.5
2. 29.4 Misfeed, round did not rise in mag, saved 2 shots.
3. 38.0 Ditto, saved one shot.
4. 46.1

162.10

5. 43.1 Chasing wind.
6. 37.2 See above. 8 shots only.
7. 46.2
8. 47.4

173.9

9. 48.2
10. 46.4
11. 47.2
12. 25.1 Legs ran out of gas after 200, saved last two rounds, two misses. 6 hits were likely at 5/4/300. More interval training needed. Hell, I'm 63, have had bypass surgery, happy to be shooting.

166.9

Total, 501.28

Wind was gusty enough during 9-12 to blow over the mod. section we were using for scoring.

Ammunition was loaded day before driving to Ottawa, rounds marginally too long, causing a few to stick in mag. That is readily remedied.

Had a great time, learned a lot, looking foreward to shooting the program again.

...............i had to shoot the EOHC MILSURP because my f_CKING team didn't have their act together to shoot last weekend........and they gave one of the FNGs my rifle to paly with

oh did i say that out loud ?

I would have shot pistol if OSA could have been bothered to let me know when it was planned

..........but i am not bitter

Navy team? Your email was not forewarded to me until after I had left for Ottawa, didn't see it until Sunday when I got home. Linda got your email in Australia, I expect that the time difference was a factor. I am sorry about this.

Hey tiriaq:

Great run down scores for matches 4 and 8! Well done, especially with that bypass history. You and I are the disability gang, now that I've had 2 (don't get one, get TWO of them) hip replacements! :D

"Don't get one, get TWO of them". Great advice for some things - guns, scopes, etc. ONE bypass procedure is enough!
It is really intimidating, watching these young guys scampering downrange.

Only if you're drinking while shooting.

However.

Hangovers are good.

First, you make every shot count 'cause its gonna hurt.

Second, (and more importantly) you shake slower.
