I don't know much about Mauser's yet, (This is my second one, still waiting for the Mauser books I ordered off amazon.com) But I know what I like, and I had to have this one, The tag said it was a Mauser Model 1908 Custom, if anyone can give me some info that'd be great! Anywho, heres what I know:

Has an Octagon barrel, approximately 18" (Not sure how to 'properly' measure a barrel just yet) EDIT: Closed the bolt and put a cleaning rod down until it stopped, measured out to 19 inch`s
Receiver is flat to match barrel
OAL: 41.5"
Butter knife bolt handle (was on my list to have on my next rifle, so bonus!)
Burris 4x scope
Nice looking scope mounts (not sure what kind
Full length stock (Mannlicher I think is the proper name, was looking at a CZ with this style of stock, so again, bonus!)
VERY nice trigger pull
Caliber: 7x57
Much lighter than I though it would be with the octagon barrel and full stock.
Nice trigger guard
Appears to be a custom bolt release (or machined the stock one)

Some of you may have seen it at TSE, once again, thanks to TSE's staff for excellent service on an extremely busy Friday.

Not sure who the previous owner was because it was on consignment, but like I said, I seen it, I had to have it.

Anyway, enough of that, heres the pictures!

(Oh, and it came with this custom box, its fairly nice to boot.)

Nice, very nice. A while ago I bought a 1908 Mauser with plans of using it as a basis for a project rifle to build something similar to what you have. The metal is in excellant shape, a few dings in the wood, the action is still in the original 'white' and it has the sling attachments as well as most of the original leather sling. One day......
Anyway, very nice. Enjoy.

I'm not sure if the nameplate is the dude who built the gun, or just the case, anybody know of a custom gun maker in the Yukon named K.B. Hansen? I goggled but got no results. Either way, whoever built it, knew my tastes :p

I think thats for the box, not the rifle...

Now all she needs is some checkering and open sights. Beautiful otherwise, and the best of the best caliber wise.

Brazilian 1908 Project

Nice job on the 1908.

Does the guy still build guns?

I would like to do something like that to my commercial Mauser action in 7X57.
I won't destroy any of my three VG+ 1908's.

I would trade two of them for a NEW 1908 with bayonet, sling, muzzle cap, and target.

I'm not really sure who built it actually, I think thats the name of the guy who built the box in the pictures, not the gun, hard to say, if I find out I'll let you know.
