Mauser build cal. Decision

When I stated hard to find componants for, i guess i should have looked for them here in Canada as well.

What about barrels. Having a hard time finding a short chambered one in 9.3x62. Not wanting to bust my bank account on this one. 7x57 is easy to get a hand on. I do a fair amount of shooting, so cost of reloading is going to play a factor here.

I got mine from Barry Jensen at bits of pieces (Heym)

I purchased a short-chambered 6.5x55 Heym barrel from Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces in Delta BC, also purchased a Montana Rifleworks barrel in 9.3 that had to be threaded, chambered and fitted by my gunsmith. I would give him a call, also Jerry Teo at Mystic Precision in Kelowna BC may be able to help you out.

Another vote for the 360 Wagner, as long as obtaining a barrel isn't too much hassle for a rifle you don't really need lol.

Yes, definitely a vote for .257 Bob, or even .250 Savage - not a Mauser cartridge, but a hi-vel pioneer. Beyond that, I would definitely go 9.3x62 if you want bigger. Of course, leaving classic behind, there is always the .280 Ackley . . .

.375 Scovill for my first pick & .260 Remington for 2nd.
Cheap brass for reloading(30-06 & .308), plus good bullet selection
for either one. Both can be loaded to equal their Euro counterparts
like 9.3x62 and 6.5x55.

Im kinda thinking the same thing with the stevens 200 i just bought. was looking at bullets online and seems to be more of a selection in 338`s than .358`s. im leaning towards the 338-06. 35 whelen has some serious coolness about it but last rifle i bought was an odd caliber and buying bullets to reload was a pain in the ass. Lesson lernt`d!

thats what im thinkin, good luck.
