It might help the OP to understand why that lip is there - it is to prevent the operator from inadvertently closing the bolt on an empty chamber, leaving said operator with the mistaken impression that he has a chambered round. A "click" when expecting a "boom" is almost as loud as a "boom" when expecting a "click". That lip has no effect whatsoever if there is at least one cartridge left in the magazine. Most commercial sporters like Winchester and Remington have ramp or curve at rear of the follower that allows the bolt to close on an empty chamber. To each his own, I guess - as is, it is not a flaw, it has a purpose.
