maverik 88

Iv had one for 5 years and only cleaned the barrel... Its been in rain, sand, mud been dropped, flew off the quad into a mud muddle ect and never failed on me. It uses mossy 500 barrels and iv got a 28" vented ribbed and 3 choke tubes, its taken everything from deer to bunnies to grouse

Great guns for the price! I had the field model. I changed out the recoil pad in a hurry! Once I put the limbsaver pad on, it was super fun to mess around with! I sold it cause I wanted something else! I would not hesitate to buy another one in the future though!

Load, shoot, repeat.

20 years, 5 - 10,000 rounds, field stripped & cleaned ONCE 10 years ago - otherwise, the only cleaning it gets is a liberal spray of WD-40 and then throw a rag in it's general direction at the end of each Duck Season. 0 mechanical failures. And that is the "old" version with only the single rail on the forestock - I'm told the newer double rails ones are even better - though I'm not sure how you could improve on the results I've had.

This is not my "kick around gun", but the one I rely on to get the job done when I'm out hunting, etc..

It lives in the bottom of the canoe with the mud & slop, has been used as a paddle, you name it, I've probably done it to it. Short of packing it so full of mud or ice that is simply didn't have room to move, it hasnever failed me. And even then, a quick rinse with river water and it was good to go again.

Best $200 I have ever spent.

IF this one ever finally gives up the ghost, I'll buy another the same day.

15yrs and counting...good iron.

Only issue I have had was replacing the forestock. Was difficult to find the single rail forestock.

Eventually found one....(guess you shouldn't set it on your rear tire while you are taking of your waders, might just forget it and possibly back over it f:P:2:)

Got it!

Finally picked up the Maverick 88 today from the good people at Wanstalls in Maple Ridge. Great looking shotgun. It came with the regular stock and a pistol grip for $249. Can’t wait to try it out this weekend.

One question: Is there supposed to be some play on the forestock? It seems loose and wiggles side to side (sorry, my first shotgun)

I'ts normal.

Unlike the better 500's and 870's there is no metal under that fore stock. It is all plastic, but works just fine.

I got two boxes of 2and3/4" winchester shells. One is Win Universal (gray box) and the other is Win Super-Target (white box). We'll see if there are any problems with either.

What do you shoot for plinking?

Curious what your experiance with this security/tactical shotgun is?
Great reviews online and the price is $189 with a pistol grip.

They're a bargain. Mine cost $205 with pistol grip and butt, all in. No complaints. Because its so cheap you won't mind giving it rough use and it will take it.
